Swedish tech metal outfit Meshuggah has dropped its new single, "Born in Dissonance." Check it out below and let us know what you think in the comments!

The group's eighth studio album, 'The Violent Sleep of Reason,'  is set for an October 7 release via Nuclear Blast and is available for pre-order here.

Drummer Tomas Haake said of the album, "Basically, the whole idea of why we chose the title is it kinda connects with the lyrical content of the album. Which is to a fair degree about current events and what you see is going on as far as terrorism today, extremist views on ideals, and religious dogma and the violent implications that you get from being asleep so to speak and not acting/reacting to what is going on in the proper way."

Bassist Kristian Karlsson said, "The song 'Ikaros' is a step into a world where a rougher and more mature pg.lost are joined with large and growling analog synths. 'Ikaros' was the first song written for the album 'Versus' and has set the tone for the album in its entirety."

Danzig-e1455037095570_0.jpg

As the last weekend of August creeps upon us, back-to-school dread and pumpkin spice everything fill the air. Whether you're milking the summer to the bitter end and hitting the beach one last time or you're already breaking out your favorite tour sweatshirts in anticipation of "hoodie weather," we've compiled a playlist with summertime tunes that every metalhead can enjoy before (and even after) Labor Day.

1. Type O Negative, "Summer Breeze"
Leave it to Pete Steele to take such a cheerful, sunny classic and turn it into a dark, morbid tune. This is perfect for the summer goths out there who pack SPF 900 to the beach.

2. Danzig, "Dirty Black Summer"
If this song doesn't conjure up images of Glenn Danzig's infamous cameo in 'Portlandia,' (see above pic) then what will? Much like Type O, this tune is perfect for those who spend their summer counting down the days until Halloween.

3. Van Halen, "Ice Cream Man"
Of course David Lee Roth would turn something as sweet as ice cream into something vaguely R-rated. Despite the NSFW undertones, it's hard not to think of refreshing frozen treats on a hot day when you hear this one.

4. Billy Idol, Slash, Derek Sherinian, "In the Summertime"
You can never go wrong with combining the guitar prowess of Slash, the edge of Billy Idol, and the piano skills of Derek Sherinian. The iconic trio transform this 1970 summertime classic into a modern summer rock anthem.

5. SiKth, "Summer Rain"
While maybe "Summer Rain" doesn't feel warm and sunny, the 'gent pioneers perfectly capture the chaos of summer rainstorms with this crushing track. Mosh pit on the beach, anyone?

6. White Zombie/Iggy Pop, "Black Sunshine"
You can never go wrong with a White Zombie/Iggy Pop collaboration. "Black Sunshine" delivers a dingy, 1970s vibe and makes the perfect summer road trip tune. Just be mindful of the speed limit because this one definitely makes you wanna hit the gas harder!

7. Soundgarden, "Black Hole Sun"
This classic '90s tune is reminiscent of those summer days where the overcast is thick and the prospect of going to the beach is bleak. Also, it's just a really killer jam!

8. Deftones, "My Own Summer"
And finally, this is likely one of the most well-known summertime metal jams. Not only is "My Own Summer" The Deftones most iconic hit, but the song is paired perfectly with a 'Jaws'-esque music video.

My Heart To Fear.jpg
Williamsport, Pennsylvania-based metal act My Heart to Fear will release its new EP, 'The Draft,' on August 26 via Luxor Records. In anticipation, the band has teamed up with Revolver to premiere the entire new EP right here, right now! Check it out below and let us know what you think in the comments!

Vocalist Trevor Pool said, "'The Draft' is a new chapter for us, a reflection of how far we've all come individually these past three years since our 2012 release, 'Algorithm.' Instrumentally, we stripped down the extra add-ins and backtracks so that it is only MHTF playing live—a much more rock-based metal sound. Lyrically, the EP revolves around living in a false reality where we are sedated into submission to pre-organized wars, governing officials being involved in occult groups, and other issues that we care deeply about. We literally have never been more excited to release music; It's dark, its assaulting, it's 'The Draft.'"

Of Mice & Men have premiered the touching music video for its latest single, "Real," which is directed by Max Moore. Check it out below and let us know what you think in the comments!

"Real" is dedicated to the memory of 14-year-old Cassy Colunga, a fan who tragically lost her battle with brain cancer recently. Through the Living Dream Foundation, the band was initially introduced to Cassy. The band took a pause while recording the album to dedicate a day to Cassy and her family after they learned that her condition had become worse. Cassy was brought into the studio and in addition to recording her handclaps for the song "The Lie," she became the first person outside of official band personnel to hear 'Cold World.' "Now Cassy's name and the sound of her clapping hands are on the record," says Carlile. "It's something that captures that moment and that relationship forever. When we think about everything we went through to make this record, that's something that we'll never forget." "The Lie" is frontman Austin Carlile's battle cry against the American medical system and his lyrics reflect his own personal frustrations with the pharmaceutical industry. The vocalist explains that he's "calling out the 1% for not taking care of the people they should be."

Of Mice & Men continued its outreach for the video "Real" as they worked with Living The Dream Foundation, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and The Marfan Foundation, which is close to Carlile's heart as he has been suffering from Marfan syndrome since age 17. Carlile told Rolling Stone, "We shot it in Portland, Oregon, during a day off from tour. We asked fans to submit footage holding up poster boards that explain what makes them feel real. The images that pop up mention everything from music to foster care activism to the Marfan's Community to St. Jude's hospital. And some people wrote stuff like, 'reading,' 'my friends,' 'family.' We even had some fans in the studio while we were recording, just to include them more in the process."

The track is from the bands forthcoming album, 'Cold World,' which will be released on September 9 via Rise Records.

The thrashers have issued a two and a half minute trailer which features a twenty second clip for new song "Moth Into Flame."

The clip can be heard below around the two minute mark. Unlike the shredding first single "Hardwired," "Moth Into Flame" has a groovier but equally heavy sound to it.
