Classic Video: Early Version of Tool's

Musical genius. Shock artist. Wine maker. Jiu-jitsu purple belt. These are all just some of the many roles that Tool/Puscifer/A Perfect Circle frontman Maynard James Keenan has filled throughout his multi-faceted career. It’s as if anything this man touches, he conquers with an essence of ease that many try to replicate, but seldom accomplish. More importantly, Keenan’s musical contributions are unique in that they transcend generic labels, uniting the most diverse conglomeration of fans under the umbrella of his most legendary endeavor: Tool.

Today, April 17, the man who wears many hats is celebrating his 53rd birthday! In honor of Kennan’s revolution around the sun, we’re sharing a video from the days of Children of the Anachronistic Dynasty (C.A.D.), one of his earlier musical projects that pre-dated Tool. In the clip from 1987, the band performs Tool’s hit song, “Sober,” in its infancy. So, check it out for a little dose of nostalgia and tell us how you’re celebrating the birthday of M.J.K. today!
