hellyeah and pantera’s vinnie paul remembers avenged sevenfold’s the rev

March 12, 2010

Like you, we here at Revolver are still mourning the loss of Avenged Sevenfold drummer Jimmy “The Rev” Sullivan. That’s why we included a poster of him and an obituary in the March/April issue, on stands now. Many of the Rev’s peers wanted to weigh in, too. So over the coming days, we’ll post remembrances by the Rev’s friends, people he looked up to and artists who looked up to him. Here, HELLYEAH and Pantera drummer Vinnie Paul shares his thoughts.

“His music was very challenging and dangerous, but the Rev was always just a down-to-earth guy that was very humble, with no ego. He always treated me with the ultimate respect and I always enjoyed his presence. He was great.”

I first found out about Avenged Sevenfold from Need for Speed most Wanted and i am proud to say i have been a big fan since then. The Rev will be missed but never forgotten.

I was never the biggest A7X fan, but regardless it’s still such a tragedy.  He was a fantastic drummer and his Little Piece of Heaven was crazy good.  My condolences definitely go out to his family and the other guys in A7X, hopefully in due time they can rebuild and continue on with what they were doing. RIP Rev
