Avenged Sevenfold fans, thanks for your feedback and passion. The Revolver Golden Gods was originally a three-hour award event, and what aired on TV was an hour—or 40-some-odd minutes when you count commercials. We are currently working to get all the additional footage out there for you, the fans, and will have the acceptance speech from Jimmy’s family online, free to watch anytime, as soon as possible.
Tonight, Saturday, May 22, at 10 P.M., VH1 Classic will premiere their hour-long Revolver Golden Gods special, featuring highlight from the biggest night in hard rock and metal. Appearances by Ozzy Osbourne, Alice Cooper, Dave Mustaine, and Ronnie James Dio (R.I.P.), plus never-before- seen collaborations by iconic music legends Slash, Lemmy Kilmister, and Dave Grohl performing Motörhead’s “Ace of Spades” and other blistering performances by Rob Zombie, Zakk Wylde, Fear Factory, As I Lay Dying, and Brian Posehn make this a heavy-hitting concert and award show not to be missed.
If you are in NYC, swing by Fontana’s on the Lower East Side and hang out with the staff of Revolver, as well as Sirius-XM’s Jose Mangin, at the official screening party of the Golden Gods. Municipal Waste, Ramming Speed, and Atakke will provide live music. Jeremiah Weed Sweet Tea and Asahi beer will provide the drinks. Admission is FREE!
America’s premiere hard-rock and heavy-metal awards show, the Revolver Golden Gods presented by Epiphone, has donated two guitars, signed by the event’s winners, performers, and presenters, to raise money for the West Memphis Three defense fund. The WM3 are wrongfully-convicted Arkansas men—Jason Baldwin and Jessie Misskelley, who are currently serving life sentences in prison, and Damien Echols, who is on death row (find out more at wm3.org). They were arrested in June 1993 and convicted of murdering three elementary school children in 1994. In July 2007 the results of DNA testing, which was not available at the time of their trials, proved the three should never have been convicted of these heinous crimes.
