To Speak Of Wolves
To Speak of Wolves will release their first new album in five years, Dead in the Shadow, on July 21 via Solid State Records. In anticipation, the North Carolina-based metalcore group has teamed up with Revolver to premiere the first new single, "Haunt Me." Check it out below.

Vocalist Gage Speas said, "Haunt Me' is one of my favorite songs off the record. It was a pretty emotional experience tracking vocals. The lyrics are about letting go of people you love when it becomes apparent that you just can't help them anymore. You've done everything you can and have to walk away. When we sat back and all listened to it in the studio, we knew right away this was going to be the first song we released."

In addition, To Speak of Wolves will also be heading out on tour this summer with He Is Legend and Islander. Dates are listed below.

BardSpec — the ambient new project featuring Enslaved composer/guitarist Ivar Bjørnson and Today Is The Day's Steve Austin — will release their new album, Hydrogen, on June 23rd via By Norse Music. In anticipation, the band has teamed up with Revolver to premiere the entire album stream right here, right now. Check it out below.

"I remember listening to Richard Burmer and his album Mosaic from 1984. I thought I fell asleep but I was in a semi-lucid state where I still registered music — but not much else," Bjørnson said of the appeal of trance-inducing aspects of music. "At the end of side A there's an explosion so violent and extreme that I jumped two feet into the air and was totally shocked. The weird thing is, I couldn't remember it being there. When I revisited the music again it was just a little 'thud.' I was just experiencing a trance so deep into the music that this deviation from the pattern and frequencies in the foregoing half hour of monotony totally shocked me. I loved it!"

In addition, BardSpec will perform a rare and special show on June 29th at Brooklyn's Saint Vitus Bar. The record release show — in association with AISA and By Norse – features BardSpec alongside Josh Graham's IIVII and recent additions, Gnaw. Tickets are still available.

To get Hydrogen, visit the band's webstore or digital retailers. For more on BardSpec, follow them on Facebook.

Tombs will release its forth studio album, The Grand Annihilation, tomorrow, Friday 16th via Metal Blade Records. In advance of the release, the band have issued a full stream of the album, which is produced by longtime Tombs producer Erik Rutan (Cannibal Corpse, Soilent Green, Belphegor, Hate Eternal). Check it out below.

"If you've been following Tombs, you probably know to expect the unexpected, and I always strive to present a full range of emotion on everything with the band's name on it," said vocalist Mike Hill. "That said, this is a very dark and introspective record that digs deep into the common ideas of mortality, infinity and cosmic mysteries. The lyrics on the new record are a celebration of freedom through embracing the dark side. Once you realize that you follow the dark path — the path of the individual — there is a certain feeling of liberation that accompanies it."

The Grand Annihilation can be pre-ordered in various formats at this location.

Last year, we saw the surprise release of Avenged Sevenfold's seventh studio album, The Stage. The band is now expanding upon its recent body of work by releasing brand new tracks over the course of the next several months. The first new single is a cover of the classic Mexican folk song "Malagueña Salerosa," making it the band's first-ever song in Spanish. The track and its accompanying studio video are available below.

Produced by Joe Barresi (Queens of the Stone Age, Tool), "Malagueña Salerosa" features contributions from horn players Sarah Bauza and Rachel Tate Herrmann.

"We've said all along that we want The Stage to be a different and exciting listening experience," said vocalist M. Shadows. "For us, the idea of turning an album into a living piece of art and adding new installations is really intriguing. It expands the journey. We wanted to do the song justice and that meant singing in its original language. It was difficult, but I worked on it for weeks and had a Spanish-speaking friend come over daily to go over pronunciation. I also brought him to the studio to produce the vocals. It was important to me to get it right."

Added guitarist Synyster Gates about the new release, "I've always loved that song. There have been a few interesting interpretations over the years, including Chingon's version from the Kill Bill Volume 2 soundtrack. That's a great example of how a timeless song can be made relevant with a creative modern take. The structure, arrangement and incredible vocal work of their rendition was inspiring."

Avenged Sevenfold are currently on tour with Metallica.

French experimental outfit Igorrr have released the official music video for the track "Cheval," which features guest vocals from Cattle Decapitation's Travis Ryan. Check it out below.

"I just want to make the music I love, without asking myself if it's gonna be too complex or too far from what people like," explained mainman Gautier Serre in a statement about his musical diversity. "I want to make the music which has sense to me, with no restrictions, like a big party with metalheads, electronics nerds, classical and baroque-heads and gypsy violinists getting drunk and joining together to bring the best of every genre."

The group's upcoming studio album, Savage Sinusoid, will be released on June 16th via Metal Blade Records. It can be pre-ordered in various formats at this location.

CKY have shared "Replaceable," the second new single from their upcoming fifth studio album, The Phoenix, which is the first studio album from the band since 2009's Carver City. The song can be heard below.

"Replaceable is a rockin track. Fucking solid," said guitarist and vocalist Chad I Ginsburg. "I would say it is generally about anyone that gets in your way, holds you back or slows your potential with their own blatant insecurity, fears or sickness. Individuals that you are ultimately and knowingly covering for as they selfishly sabotage you. And then realizing how much better you can be without any losers or life suckers as obstacles. Rock n roll power.  Onward. Strength from within."

Speaking about the band's approach to the new album, Ginsburg explained, "We're grown adults now with an eagle-eye perspective on who we are, what we do, and how to do it right. None of us are out there in the clouds. We're pretty well-grounded people that have an honest perspective on where we're at."

The Phoenix, which was engineered and mixed at Rancho De La Luna studios in Joshua Tree, C.A., will hit stores on June 16th via Entertainment One. Physical copies can be pre-ordered here while digital pre-orders are available at this location.

CKY will hit the road this summer on this year's Vans Warped Tour lineup. The trek kicks off on June 16th in Seattle, Washington at CenturyLink Field and will conclude on August 6th in Pomona, California at the Pomona Fairplex.

Stone Sour - Main Pub 2017 - Travis Shinn_3.jpg, Travis Shinn

Stone Sour have shared the song "Taipei Person/Allah Tea," which is the third single from their forthcoming sixth studio album, Hydrograd. The album is the first of original Stone Sour material to feature guitarist Christian Martucci and bassist Johny Chow, both of whom came aboard after House of Gold & Bones was recorded. The song can be heard below.

While issuing a studio update on what to expect from Hydrograd for our February/March 2017 issue, frontman Corey Taylor explained of the new album's sound, "People have had it wrong about Stone Sour for a long time. We're not a metal band that plays hard rock stuff—we are a rock band that plays everything. And to me, this is the first Stone Sour album that's really going to prove that point about this band."

It's hard to explain," he continued. "It's hard rock, but not in the typical hard rock sense. It's heavy and melodic, but not in those typical senses. Anybody who likes the 'Burbank' stuff [on which the band covered classic rock and metal anthems by The Rolling Stones, Bad Brains, Alice in Chains, Iron Maiden, Slayer, and others] is going to love the originals. As eclectic as those covers were, that's kind of where we're at with the music here. But when you listen to the songs as a whole, it all just fits so well together!"

Hydrograd will be released on June 30 via Roadrunner Records. The album can be pre-ordered in various formats at this location.

Miss May I Main Promo_1.jpg

Miss May I have shared "Casualties," the latest single from the band's forthcoming sixth studio album, Shadows Inside. Check it out below.

Frontman Levi Benton said, "The track, 'Casualties,' came from a place of loss and feeling numb. This song is about how sometimes you lose interest in things you once loved and you start to feel nothing. When this happens both sides are lost and become casualties in the end. This song came from not feeling anything anymore towards everything I was doing. I felt so burned over the years and was so exhausted that it felt like there was no point to anything. I couldn't feel happy, I couldn't feel sad and I simply couldn't feel anything! I never wanted to really show this side of myself in a song, but I felt it was a the time to and really be honest on this album. It's great to have songs that are so over the top in honesty and in the music because it gives us a chance to really give our fans a next level experience."

During an interview with Revolver for our April/May 2017 issue, Benton explained the album's musical direction. "We didn't know the record sounded this way until it was finished. You don't think about it when you're in the moment and you're writing, and then you step back after a long day's work and you're like 'Holy Crap! This is totally different than what we thought we were doing!' It was exciting and fresh and it was cool because the sound came out organically. Those [songs] literally came out of us jamming. I kid you not, it was straight up high school-basement-teenage boy room vibe. This feels like we're starting all over again."

The album will be released this Friday, June 2, via SharpTone Records.

Tombs Promo Feb17-band-0004.jpg

Tombs have shared "November Wolves," the latest single from their forthcoming fourth studio album, The Grand Annihilation. Produced by longtime Tombs producer Erik Rutan (Cannibal Corpse, Soilent Green, Belphegor, Hate Eternal), the record will be released on June 16 via Metal Blade Records. Check out "November Wolves" below.

Speaking of the new album in a statement, frontman Mike Hill said, "If you've been following Tombs, you probably know to expect the unexpected, and I always strive to present a full range of emotion on everything with the band's name on it. That said, this is a very dark and introspective record that digs deep into the common ideas of mortality, infinity and cosmic mysteries. The lyrics on the new record are a celebration of freedom through embracing the dark side. Once you realize that you follow the dark path – the path of the individual – there is a certain feeling of liberation that accompanies it."

MunicipalWaste_2.jpg

Richmond, Virginia's Municipal Waste have shared "Slime and Punishment," the title track from their forthcoming album due on June 23 via Nuclear Blast Records. The song is available below along with a 360-degree visualizer.

Speaking of the album title's origins in a video clip, bassist Phil "Landphil" Hall explained, "We were walking around doing press for Fatal Feast and the press agent at the time was throwing famous book titles at us and she said to make them a Waste title and she said 'Crime and Punishment' and [vocalist Tony Foresta] immediately said 'Slime and Punishment.'"

He continued, "We've always done, like, a play on words for a lot of songs so it's like our take on Crime and Punishment, but really, just on the title, you know. It's not like we read the book or anything."

Slime and Punishment is the first of the band's albums that was recorded by Hall. The record was tracked at Blaze of Torment Studios in Richmond, Virginia and mixed and mastered by Bill Metoyer (Slayer, Dark Angel, Lizzy Borden) in Hollywood. The album art was created by Andrei Bouzikov, who also rendered the covers for Massive Aggressive, The Art of Partying and the Municipal Waste/Toxic Holocaust split, Toxic Waste.

"Tracking at home makes it a lot less stressful," explained Hall in an additional clip. "We don't have to worry about looking at the clock or answering to anybody else's schedule. We just set our own schedule and make the album happen in a way that is convenient for us."

Slime and Punishment can be pre-ordered in various formats at this location.
