UPDATE: November 10th, 2018. This morning Oli Herbert's wife, Beth, issued the following statement on his official Facebook page revealing the musician's cause of death:

"Good morning everyone this is Beth. And indeed it IS a good morning; Toxicology results are back as is the official cause of my husband's death!

"Cause of death- Drowning
Toxicology- Oli was apparently self-treating for manic-depression that has run in his family for several generations. Anti-depressants were found in his system, as well as a sleep aid. The psych meds found in his system were the same ones that a close relative has been prescribed for a long time, so he knew what to hunt down for the 'treatment'. Seeing how he was not going (and WOULDN'T GO) to a doctor to get diagnosed with the issue and was not being prescribed the medications and monitored on them, it explains his occasional erratic behavior here at home.

"As far as why the memorial was cancelled; concern for my personal safety and home due to numerous threats to both is the reason.

"If anybody knows where Oli was getting the psych meds, please call CT State Police, Troop C in Tolland, CT."

ORIGINAL STORY: All That Remains guitarist Oli Herbert has died. The band confirmed Herbert's death in a statement posted on their Facebook page. As of this time, no cause of death has been revealed.

"We were devastated to learn that Oli Herbert, our friend, guitar player, and founding member of All That Remains, has passed away," the band's statement begins.

"Oli was an incredibly talented guitarist and song writer who defined Rock and Metal from the Northeast. His impact on the genres and our lives will continue indefinitely. No further details are available at this time. The band and family request that you please respect their privacy and remember Oli by celebrating the great music he made."

Herbert was a founding guitarist of All That Remains, and since its formation in 1998 was the only consistent member besides frontman Phil Labonte. Herbert played on all eight All That Remains studio albums, as well as their forthcoming ninth and new record, Victim of the New Disease, which is scheduled for release on November 9th. The guitarist's widow, Beth Herbert, posted to his official Facebook page, "Thank you all for the kind thoughts and words. I don't want to go into what happened until we have a complete picture, but as soon as we do there will be a statement from the family on this page. In the meantime, please respect our privacy as there are still relatives being informed of Oli's passing. Thank you."
