Shawn "Clown" Crahan has announced that he'll be sitting out Slipknot's upcoming tour dates. In a brief message shared on the 'Knot's Instagram page, the percussionist revealed that he's supporting his wife while she deals with some health issues, and will be back on the road with the band "as soon as I can," though he didn't give an exact timeline.

"Hello to all of our fans, it's the Clown," he wrote. "I would like to take a moment to tell everyone that I'm back home supporting my wife through some health issues, and I'll be back on the road as soon as I can.

"We've been through this before and as always, we appreciate the love and support. See all of you very soon."

Slipknot currently have a busy European tour schedule on the docket for this summer, beginning today (June 7th) with a show in Austria and including stops at England's Download festival, Belgium's Graspop, France's Hellfest and more.

Then, the Iowa Nine will return to the States in July for a couple festival appearances (Wisconsin's Rock Fest and Ohio's Inkcarceration) and then a headlining set at Virginia's Blue Ridge Rock Festival on September 8th.

Clown didn't specify, but it seems that he'll be sitting out all of those upcoming shows, and it's unclear who — is anyone — will be replacing him onstage.
