Order Revolver's new Fall 2023 Issue, with Corey Taylor on the cover, at our shop.

Corey Taylor rose to fame as the frontman of nu-metal juggernaut Slipknot and hard-rock crew Stone Sour, but now he's got a formidable solo catalog building up under his own name.

Last week, the Iowan musician released his second solo album, CMF2, which featured a wide range of sounds encompassing punk, hard rock, metal, acoustic balladry and more. Add that to the songs from his his 2020 debut, CMFT, and the 'Knot screamer has enough tracks of his own to warrant a proper entry point for newcomers.

Never fear. For the cover story of Revolver's new Fall 2023 issue, we collected fans' questions and posed them to Taylor, and die-hard Able Freeman asked him to choose the one Corey Taylor song he'd play for someone who's never heard his solo material.

"Beyond"

I would probably say "Beyond," because it has elements of everything I'm doing. There's just enough edge there that kind of puts it in that crossroads of hard rock, heavy metal, a little punk, a little stoner. It's just got a little bit of everything, but it's all kind of formed into one great song.
