I definitely like it. Reminds me of some of Young Widows stuff.
Mike - March 12, 2010

Too organized. Had they just stuck to the Songs concept it would’ve been killer. Glad they’re finally over, RIP Canada Songs. Altho they’re not even Canadian l0l0l0l.
Steam my ass, I only bothered to download the last two songs. l0l0l0l I should make a torrent of this shit and see how fast it dies. Not havin’ that, pz !
l0l0l0l - March 12, 2010
this is too good. they should have stuck to sounding like shit. Im gonna go back to listening to shitty music.
gay fag - March 12, 2010

What the hell is this crap? Hacks. Putrid. Kids. Never again.
Nope. - March 13, 2010
Pointless drivel. More spoiled dorks with charmed lives and nothing to do.
dickbreath - March 13, 2010
I simply love everything Daughters has done. I love everything from their first 7 inch. I actually (believe it or not) like the newer stuff better. Experimental vocal style. Sorry assholes, I forgot, if the band is noisy, but not SCREAMING an obnoxious annoying scream over it, it isn’t worth a damn. Fuck breakdowns, NOISE…RAGE! & Fuck Canada Songs…Hello Progression. I LOVE IT!
Don'tJewMe - March 13, 2010
Fuckin’ jew. Go download this sissy shit then, it was barely even worth it.
l0l0l0l - March 13, 2010
lololol dude adapt this shit is amazing.
Darwin Elijah - March 13, 2010
really evolved from last stuff. super good.
Tidemouth - March 13, 2010
All I can say is that the instruments are fucking amazing, absolutely love it. Vocalists lost me after Canada Songs
Sam Schroeder - March 14, 2010
ummm….this is crushing madness. a little less guitar schreeching goodness, but it’s a monster of a record. heavier than their past releases, if a bit more straight-forward tempo wise.
in response to all the whining, ie; “too organized,” well, yes bands evolve. thank god. botch got more organized for “romans,” and that’s a killer album. get with it or fucking walk away man. no one cares what you think.
or “sissy shit from dudes with charmed lives,” like you fucking KNOW these guys??? get a goddamn life.
they have a new line-up. they’re starting fresh with a s/t record. this is a band that has made big changes with every new release, why would you expect a remake of “songs,”(hell or canada)??? true fans will find this to be a rewarding listen. it’s big, the lyrics are amazing as usual, the drummer’s in top form, and is generally more consistent overall than anything they’ve done. daughters have delivered again. can’t wait to see this stuff live.
drpatric - March 14, 2010
People need to calm down. The internet is not a bitch fight. This is a great record. If you don’t like it guess what, no one asked you to comment.
Good job guys, and cheers to everyone open minded enough to enjoy this. Its music guys, chill the fuck out.
Aaron - March 14, 2010
I’m torrenting this now. It’s so good then watch how fast this torrent dies.
Stream my ass, download it NOW it’s not rocket science you bitches for rockcore. They’ve lost their grind, so fuck all that.
l0l0l0l - March 15, 2010
this is noise, and i love it.
mmer - March 15, 2010
this album is why they have gone their seprate ways. lex thinks some songs are good and the rest stink cuz they feel that they were trying to change thr sound to fit into some sub genra limbo of utter bullshit to make the kids happy wont even give this album a chance cuz the artist behind it dont stand by it. hope a new project is good cuz that kid can play some drums.
deaf - March 15, 2010
Hell Songs didnt sound like Canada Songs… “Daughters” should follow that same progression. A band of any style, especially a band like Daughters, would become stale if they happily “waltzed” into consistency. Noise rock is just that, it is inconsistent. Everyones opinion is valid, and everyone one is entitled to express it. I for one am sad that I will never see Daughters live again… but who the fuck plays First Act Guitars? R.I.P.
Jeff Courtright - March 16, 2010
If you are a true Jesus Lizard or Nick Cave fan you would think this is the worst album ever created. It sounds like this band is trying to go into a new direction judging from the last release which is good but still a swing and a miss. Lead singer STILL needs to drop the girl whines in the songs. I didn’t think the first 7” or Canada songs were all that bad, back in the day when the lead singer was to nervous to face the crowd. As the sun sets is still the best thing any of these guys have done
bob - March 16, 2010
An incredible piece of music and most likely the best thing of 2010 so far. Love the progression they’ve done between albums too. I only wish there were a handful of songs more…
j-pk - March 17, 2010
I can’t believe some of the ignorance on here. Some people really think they know what they’re talking about. Stop trying to define their music, and stop making a statement with nothing to back it up with. obviously this guy up here knows fuck all about First Act guitars and who they’re played by^^^
shamona - March 17, 2010
all I know I’m glad I don’t have to let go of them ever not putting something out.. or never being able to see them live. this band is a band you want to see live. thats where their true talent lies. no on has live shows like them. oopss oh god i just love the thought of being inches away from lex again. you all know you’ll be happy clapping your hands as the unattractive portable head is blared through the speakers feet’s away from you scratching and begging for more…. yeah he got that right.
h - March 17, 2010
This album is so great! I love the fact that people commented about him sounding like nick cave haa i love nick cave as well.
And whoever that was that said there needs to be more breakdowns and blastbeats needs to go hang himself. dumbasssss.
Daughters!!!! hell yeah.
ps fuck canada songs. lol
Colorherstrange - March 17, 2010
... the ignorance of that “charmed life” comment has my skin crawling with rage.
the album is great. different. kick ass. “our queens” is probably one of the best songs I’ve heard in a long time. singers voice is incredible, i’m happy to hear him actually sing. drummer is insanely talented. these guys should be very proud of what they’ve accomplished here.
maryelizabeth - March 18, 2010
I only hope more bands have this depth and scope to try new things like this. This is fucking brilliant.
Danny - April 02, 2010
i’ve been listening to this record relentlessly since i got a few weeks ago. it’s a solid attempt at progression the band’s career. you’ve got to think, being probably in their late 20’s they’d be a little bored of repeating the same kind of stuff they were playing in their late teens just rehashed. this direction makes perfect sense in any bands’ career, people don’t dig it because they’ve become more coherent and structured?? who gives a shit, you know daughters wouldn’t have. thats their whole point, defying expectations.
to break up on the back of such an vital release is a killer blow, over here (in the uk) people in bands (and audiences) are just too scared to try or hear anything new. it’s simply about generating as much money as possible.
daughters were such a breath of fresh air in the very stale world of metal and art-rock, and now look at what the guitarist is doing (fang island) which reminds me of the colour beige.
it would have been very rad indeed to have seen them live, alas, all i have to watch now are shitty youtube videos! :(
morgs - April 02, 2010
“and that first song went nowhere. stop trying to be nick cave”
lololol. “went nowhere”? worthless comment.
I am Ironic - April 03, 2010
If anyone has ever participated in a serious band that has released albums, wrote songs, toured on those releases, built a fanbase and all that jazz for a long period of time, your band WILL experiment and progressively change. That’s final. True, you can’t please everyone like the douchebags saying, “Oh, what a piece of shit! This is nothing like Canada/Hell Songs!”
Good. I’m glad it’s not like the 2 previous albums. I’m sorry to offend anyone who may not be a musician, but when someone that’s NOT a musician gets into a certain style/form/genre/sound of music, they get stuck on it. They become to afraid to stray away from it because change is too hard for them to comprehend. “Uh-oh! It’s not Canada Songs! When I listened to that album in front of people, it showed that I was different and super, 100% completely original! Now if I listen to this in front of people, what will my friends (that are the exact same way as me) think of me!” Get over yourself.
When those fucks commenting above learn that repetition is the ultimate death of any form of art, they’ll completely understand where I’m coming from.
brad gandy - April 03, 2010
yea this album sounds pretty normal compared to the older stuff. I only got into daughters a couple of years ago and love hell songs because its original, and dont give a shit about canada songs because it sounds like a million other bands. Overall I’d say this release is still pretty cool. Bands change their sound get used to it.
Keff Jelly - April 10, 2010
Sorry to see them go…one of the best live shows i’ve ever seen!
Mike - April 23, 2010
Daughters seems to actually progress from one album to another. Personally, I’m a fan of their first 7-inch, Canada Songs, Hell Songs and the new album is great. It documents a growth from noisey powerviolence-esque ‘grindcore’ to a more lo-fi oriented sound, to a more lo-fi art-punk oriented sound. It’s very Three-One G.
mLev - April 25, 2010
“Fuck Canada Songs…Hello Progression”
How does playing the same rhythm for 90% of the album get to be called progression? Boring, mediocre riffs and overproduced is what I would call this. And the vocals on hell songs were nice, these are flat and don’t sound that good.
CrippleHorse - May 23, 2010
Agreed. Hell Songs was their best in my opinion. 7-inch was pretty good too. I’m surprised they are even up on this thing. haha Saw them with cattle decap and the locust in hollywood a while back. pretty sick gnar.
Wholelottasperm - May 25, 2010
my review consists of:
commenting on the awful production
noting that this is not as good as hell songs
making a weird comparison to arab on radar that i don’t really believe
tonto - May 28, 2010
fucking solid. i love the progression from as the sun sets to this. bananas. i got boogers.
