This installment is the premiere of “All You Ever Knew,” the first track off melodic metalcore band Eyes Set to Kill’s new album, Broken Frames (BreakSilence). Vocalist-guitarist Alexia Rodriguez fills us in on the song.
REVOLVER What is the song about?
ALEXIA RODRIGUEZ “All You Ever Knew” is about trying to forget about my memories of relationships I don’t care for much anymore. I feel like no matter how much I want them to go away, they will still never quit haunting me and reminding me of the pain my ex-boyfriends caused me and of the pain I caused them.
Which part of it did you come up with first and what was the inspiration?
I have a lot of memories that I want to forget about. So I wanted to base the theme of the song on that feeling. I have had a friend pass away; I have broken hearts; I have lost faith at times; and I have made mistakes that I can’t even count anymore. So all of the memories of these things inspired me to write about them on this album. We really wanted this first song to be the heaviest and the most evolved sounding track compared to the tracks on [Eyes Set to Kill’s last album] The World Outside. “Broken Frames” is the first song we finished for this record and the first song we tried out this theme on. So I guess you could call this a concept album about everything I want to forget.
Was this an easy record to write?
We pushed ourselves a lot harder on the album and challenged ourselves as musicians. I really wanted the emotion in my voice to be more dramatic on this album so I am singing an octave higher.
What sort of feedback have you gotten on this song so far?
So far everyone is shocked on how heavy yet melodic and catchy “All You Ever Knew” is. It will definitely be a fun live song for the crowd and for us to rock out to. We can’t wait for our fans to hear how much we have evolved with our new sound.

I think you sound great..i will wait to hear the whole album before I say y’all have improved overall…one song is not enough to go gaga. Sounds tight and melodic. Good song. Hope Brandon is happy with his new adventures. I am sooo happy you didn’t go with Craig Mabbitt…he is sooo overrated.

I think Alexias new vocal range is too high :T It kinda reminds me of the chipmunks. During the slower parts of the song when you sang lower were the best, cause it didn’t break my ear drums…
