Doomy supergroup offers up debut single "Oblivion"

Founded in Galveston, Texas, at the end of 2020, DieHumane is a new heavy-metal supergroup featuring guitarist Rick Hunolt (formerly of Exodus) and drummer Sal Abruscato (formerly of Type O Negative and Life of Agony and currently of A Pale Horse Named Death). The lineup is rounded out by ex-Anova Skyway vocalist Garret West as well as founding multi-instrumentalists Joshua Vargas and Greg Hilligiest, who first initiated the project as a way to deal with the loss and isolation of the pandemic.

Today (January 12th), DieHumane have teamed with Revolver to premiere the band's debut single, "Oblivion," which showcases their eclectic, doom-laden sound, which draws from wide-ranging influences including Type O, Celtic Frost, Pink Floyd and A Perfect Circle.

"'Oblivion' is our take on a song that's been written a thousand times; self-loathing, the lack of will to push forward, and isolation," Vargas tells us. "It was one of the first songs written for this project at the end of 2020 and was the track that got the party started. This is the quintessential DieHumane song: weird, moody, abstract and heavy."

"Oblivion" is just one of the 10 tracks featured on DieHumane's upcoming first full-length album, The Grotesque, which was produced and mixed by noted producer Ulrich Wild. The LP is set to be released on May 5th in partnership with Wild's label WURMgroup and The Oracle Management, the management company of Coal Chamber/DevilDriver frontman Dez Fafara. It's available for pre-order now.
