Hear Thom Yorke's Eerie New Song From Upcoming 'Suspiria' Soundtrack

Radiohead singer releases "Suspirium" video, featuring music from his first ever film score

With reviews pouring in and several clips and trailers floating around ahead of the highly anticipated release of Luca Guadagnino's Suspiria reboot, it's high time we got to hear a song from the film's soundtrack. Today, composer Thom Yorke has provided just that with a video for the lead single "Suspirium."

Best known as the frontman for British rock titans Radiohead, Yorke took on a lot of pressure with his first film score. The original version of the movie was scored by horror/synth legends Goblin, but despite the iconic nature of their Susperia compositions, Yorke was given plenty of freedom to put his own signature on the remake's soundtrack. "Normally, a horror movie involves orchestras, these specific things. But Luca [Guadagnino], the director, and Walter [Fasano], the editor, are very much, like, find your own path with it. They're giving me as much freedom as they can. I just have to find a way into it. Which I am doing. It's exciting," he told BBC 6 Radio.

"Suspirium" bears the hallmarks of Yorke's signature musical style with an eerily gorgeous piano part acting as the base for the singer's trademark ethereal falsetto. A lonely, sometime dissonant flute breaks through the waltz every few parts, enhancing the spectral nature of the song's origins.

The full soundtrack for Suspiria will include 25 original compositions by Yorke including instrumentals, interludes and more traditional songs such as "Suspirium." It is available for preorder here and comes out October 26th via XL Recordings.
