On March 19th, the Melvins took their 2024 Japan tour to Tokyo, playing the first of two back-to-back nights at Shibuya WWW X. Japanese heavy-rock experimentalists Boris — who, of course, take their moniker from Melvins' 1991 sludge epic — opened the show, and even joined the headliners for a full-circle performance of their namesake song that closed out the evening.

Melvins were without their longtime drum hero Dale Crover, who's been sidelined since emergency back surgery in late 2013, but Big Business' Coady Willis filled his seat with aplomb, holding down the beats through the group's bulldozing 12-song set.
