'Chinese Democracy' rarity gets psychedelic visual

Late last year, Guns N' Roses released a newly recorded version of a Chinese Democracy rarity called "The General." Today, the hard-rock icons dropped the stormy single's music video, a psychedelic visual trip that intercuts concert footage with AI-generated clips that dive into "the subconscious of a young boy who stares down the monsters of dark childhood memories," as a press release puts it.

Guns N' Roses collaborated on the video with Dan Potter, Creative Director of London-based creative studio Creative Works.

"The General" was initially released as the vinyl-only B-side to the August 2023 single "Perhaps." GN'R played "The General" live for the first time during their two-night stand at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles last year.

Like "Perhaps," the stormy, slow-burning "The General" is one of several Chinese Democracy leftovers that GN'R have rolled out over the last couple years. In 2021, they dropped "ABSUЯD" and "Hard Skool," the latter of which allegedly dates back to 1999 and was leaked in 2006 under the name "Checkmate."
