Aaron Buchanan of Heaven's Basement Picks His Five Favorite Albums of the Year
Leading up to the end of the year, Revolver has asked some of our favorite artists to pick their Top Albums of 2012 and tell us why each record rules. Here, Aaron Buchanan (pictured left), vocalist of the hard-rock band Heaven's Basement, selects his faves.
5. Muse, The 2nd Law
"An all-round great album, influences and tips of the hat all over the shot and I don't even care that some of it borders on plagiarism. It's just a good album by a good English band--what's not to like?"
4. Jack White, Blunderbuss
"Has more vibe in the first three minutes than most bands do in their entire career. Outstanding? I'd say so..."
3. Rage Against The Machine, XX
"This is the reissue of their debut album and it's crazy to think that it's 20 years old as it still sounds as aggressive and fresh as it did the first time you heard it. Every time they come on the radio, it makes other bands sound juvenile in comparison."
2. Halestorm, The Strange Case of...
"We've just finished a European tour with these guys and all the songs from this album sounded banging live! Lzzy [Hale, Halestorm's frontwoman] has an awesome voice and they put on a great show."
1. Led Zeppelin, Celebration Day
"OK, this may not exactly be a 'new album', but come on... It's Led Zeppelin... It's genius, and anybody who argues it isn’t is an idiot!"
