Art for the New Behemoth Album Will Contain Frontman Nergal’s Blood

In what may be one of the most metal things we’ve heard at Revolver recently–the cover art for the new Behemoth album, The Satanist, will contain some of Nergal’s own blood.

In an interview with Heavy magazine, the frontman says he wanted his blood mixed into the art by Russian symbolist painter Denis Forkas for “a more organic feel.”

Nergal said, “I wanted to incorporate some of my DNA into the art. This album seems to be so defining of who we are now as people and as individuals, and considering all the instances in recent years, [we wanted] to make it more ‘ours’ than it is usually.”

Apparently this is not Forkas’ first time using blood as a medium–here is one of his works from 2011.

The release of The Satanist was postponed earlier this year and is scheduled to come out sometime in 2014.
