Electronic-accented metalcore group Attack Attack! are releasing their heavy new album, This Means War, comes out Tuesday! You can hear the song “The Wretched” from the album for the first time below. Vocalist-keyboardist Caleb Shomo fills us in on the song below the stream. Let us know what you think of it in the comments.
REVOLVER What’s this song about?
CALEB SHOMO “The Wretched” is about how hopeless I feel during the middle of everything that happens in the “battle” This Means War was written about. It’s about starting to truly realize things will be changed forever.
It’s also a parallel to the depression problems I’ve had in my own life.
Which part of it did you come up with first?
I’m pretty sure the first part I wrote was the chorus. I just had been messing around with the whole sing scream and had written that part. Once I tracked it, I just went on a finished the song. I was real impressed with how it turned out! Definitely one of my favorites.
Was this an easy song to record?
It was pretty easy. The song just flowed for me. Vocally, it all just sort of came together. But that breakdown in the bridge was really confusing at first. [Laughs] I got that all taken care of, though!
What sort of feedback have you gotten on this song so far?
It’s been all over the board but I think most people have been liking it! The friends I have shown the song and video to have been stoked on it! And fans seem to be into it as well.
