Black Sabbath with Mariachi Trumpets and Afrobeat Drumming? Check out Brown Sabbath’s Cover of “N.I.B.”

Brownout Presents Brown Sabbath

Brown Sabbath is the alter ego of Austin-based psych-funk collective Brownout, who reinterpret the catalog of metal godfathers Black Sabbath on their new full-length, Brownout Presents Brown Sabbath, on June 24. Here, the band has teamed with Revolver to premiere their cover of “N.I.B.” Check it out below and let us know what you think in the comments!

Brown Sabbath’s Greg Gonzales says, “‘N.I.B.’ was the last song we chose and recorded for the Brown Sabbath album. It features mariachi trumpets, staccato tremolo bursts reminiscent of Isaac Hayes rendition of ‘Walk On By,’ and an Afrobeat breakdown over a soaring chorus and heavily fuzzed-out bass. We managed to do all of that while keeping true to the headbanging party-vibe of the original!”
