Deftones Cover Kris Kross’ “Jump” in Tribute to Chris Kelly

During their concert at the Pageant in St. Louis, Missouri, Deftones paid tribute to Kris Kross founder Chris Kelly, who died on Wednesday of an apparent drug overdose, by covering the ’90s hi-hop group’s “Jump.” Just last month, Deftones lost one of their own founding members, bassist Chi Cheng, who passed away five years after a car accident left him in a coma. Check out the band’s cover of “Jump,” interpolated with the Deftones’ own “Engine 9,” below, and let us know what you think in the comments.

No better band than The Deftones. They leave it all onstage, which is why they have the most loyal fans. Met Chino and Sergio in St. Louis in 2011. Total class act! Will never miss a Deftones show!

Absolutely fantastic. Best live band – I always love it.

This brought a tear to my eye.

This is why Deftones are and will remain my favorite band. Not only are they fantastic live, they’re a class act.

I’ve met them twice in person and they’re so down to earth, especially these days.

I was working at their 2006 Seattle concert at the Fenix, it was the best show I have ever seen, the videos never seem to reflect how great these guys are. I was fortunate enough to get to hang out and party with these guys after the show, not only are they my all time favorite band, but they are just a great group of guys, it was probably one of the best nights of my life, I got to meet and party with my musical idols, I would’ve never thought I would get the chance to compare drum kits with Abe Cunningham, it just goes to show how classy these guys are, taking the time to make dreams come true for a nobody like me. Thank you so much Deftones, rest in peace Chi.
