Evanescence Set to Go on Hiatus
After a massive comeback with last year's self-titled effort — not to mention singer Amy Lee appearing on last year's cover of our annual Hottest Chicks in Hard Rock issue — it looks like Evanescence will be taking an extended break after their current tour wraps up.
"I haven't been sitting down to write," said Lee. "I'm thinking we'll take a break first. I'm really not sure what I'll do next. At the end of any really long tour, you need to get your head in order. I think at the end of the run, we'll go on a break for a while and figure things out."
She continued, "Taking long breaks is seen as a bad thing, but I don't think it's a bad thing. People have the idea that you have to keep putting stuff out while people remember you. But I'd rather make something that's awesome and then make people remember again."
Hardcore Evanescence fans likely aren't worried about the break being permanent, as it took five years between the band's 2006 album The Open Door and 2011's Evanescence.
"I hope it doesn't take five years," the singer adds. "But I don't want to put a timeline on it either. We'll all be doing our own thing for a while."
