Exclusive: Activator Premiere New Song, “Sexy for Breakfast”
NYHC/thrash crossover quartet Activator has teamed with Revolver to premiere of a new song, “Sexy for Breakfast.” The track will appear on the band’s new self-titled debut album, which is set for release on September 17.
Though the band has been around for several years and has played shows across the country with such notables as Bad Brains, Murphy’s Law, and Merauder, the upcoming album is their first official full-length. The album features brand new material as well as re-workings of their earlier demo material, and benefits from assistance of Jim Williams of Maximum Penalty/Nausea fame on vocal production and mixing by Matt Snedecor (Rush, Dresden Dolls).
While having been a fixture in the hardcore scene since the ’80s, frontman Shannon Moore also has serious hip-hop credibility with his other job as hype-man for legendary emcee/producer El-P during live performances and tours.
Activator’s lineup is completed by guitarist Jared Drace, bassist Willie Paredes (formerly of alt-rock group Pagoda), and Soviet born and bred drummer Sunny Leejean. The group will be announcing shows in support of their self-titled debut shortly.
