Exclusive: Daylight Premiere New Song, “In on It”

Alt-rockers Daylight will released their debut full-length, Jar, on April 30. In anticipation, the band is premiering the song “In on It” right here right now.

Vocalist-guitarist Jake Clarke says of the song, “I wrote ‘In on It’ late one night in my basement. Up until now, typical Daylight songs have been screaming vocals and harmonies, but this song and this record are a little different from other music we have released. There’s still a Daylight vibe, still sad and dark, but different. Our producer and good friend, Will Yip, helped with the formation of this track. We went clean on the verses, fuzzed-out on the choruses and added better harmonies. The song came together so well, I am really proud of where it ended up.”

    this song rules.

  • anais

daylight rules and they are awesome live

  • reagan crownover

    perfect.

  • Mark

wow this is such a new sound. will surely grow on me, these guys kick ass

  • Lars

The entire song is three chords…verse/chorus/verse/chorus/break format

Production is good but besides that its standard radio butt rock

    • fartface

its about lyrical content too. plus this song rips live so whatever.

    • Ancho Paste

Just because there aren’t a large variety of chords/notes does not make it bad. For example, the classical song “Canon” is just scales up and down, yet countless successful songs over many years have used it as a base because it works so well, even though it is simple

    • ReprogrammedToHate

Far from “standart radio butt rock”, this bring back the 90s punk rock/grunge/emo old glory days.

  • Dark

Great song. Love the mellow vibe

  • mastah cheefah

    This song rules. Fuck Lars.

  • youreyeahrulz

    incredibly cool song

  • abcasey

the new thing with all these bands is to play grungy generic rock music, but i kinda like it hopefully they will branch off with their own thing a little more

true. but still a good song

    • ReprogrammedToHate

They have been doing this for more than 5 years. It’s not a new thing from them. Yet it’s definetively an improvement from their past material. Listen to their past 3 EPs.

  • truth

how has this had 14 comments without anyone saying nirvana?

  • Rupert

Only few chords used…=….butt rock…… So nirvana was butt rock for only using a few chords? Lars you are a dumb pleb. This song is great!

  • Bnoyz

    Nirvana much?

  • Dan

Chords has nothing to do with it. But what Lars is saying is it’s just a standard/basic rock song. Sounds great, it was great live too. I can’t wait for the album.

  • P

Im glad it sounds like Nirvana, no other band has been able to step to their sound in the last 20 years, Daylight rule for this

  • Dreams of Falling Teeth

i love love daylight and I really love this song.. Both Basement and Daylight have release some great albums in similar style with departure of their original sound.
