Today, RevolverMag.com presents the exclusive premiere of “Holy Trend,” a new song from Self Defense Family.
Self Defense Family is a post-punk collective with members spread across the US and UK. The band has released three LPs (under the name End of a Year) and several EPs.
They started out as a side project by a group of Albany, New York, musicians who were already in full-time bands. Having spent time in heavier bands, the initial End of a Year lineup was interested in trying something more melodic. Taking their name from an Embrace song, the band’s original sound was highly influenced by the Revolution Summer-era DC bands.
The song will be included on 4 Way Split, a release that features Self Defense Family, The World Is A Beautiful Place and I Am No Longer Afraid to Die, Tigers Jaw, and Code Orange Kids. It will be co-released April 23 by Topshelf Records and Run For Cover Records. The album is available for pre-order here and here.
