Exclusive Video: David Draiman Talks Device and Reasons Behind Disturbed’s Hiatus

In this exclusive Revolver video, Disturbed vocalist David Draiman discusses the reasons behind Disturbed’s hiatus and why his new industrial band, Device, is free of the confines of “what Disturbed had to be.”

The hiatus was a matter of “stepping away from something that basically took up our entire lives for 16 years, and letting it breath for a while, and letting it sleep,” Draiman says in the clip.

Check out the rest of the video, which features all of Device, below.

Device will release their long-awaited debut album this spring. Look out for more updates as we get them!

I can’t be the only one distracted by the sound of David’s piercings clinking together…

      I ain’t.

That’s a lot of verbage when this band is probably going to sound like Disturbed The Sequel

David says Disturbed was kept inside a box per se…why didn’t he just take the band in a new direction instead of taking his music in a direction with a new band???

Maybe because the other members didn’t entirely agree with what he had in mind, maybe they did, but still wanted this hiatus to take a little breather.

I am going to infer the songs from device is going to be even more badass then disturbed?

I hope they sound different. I used to like Disturbed, until they started sounding too repetitive and quickly churned out one album after another without giving us a break.

This dude’s kind of a tool. At any point in Disturb’s career have any of the members themselves steered it away from “what it had to be”? No, they continually recycle the same crappy sound and do nothing to evolve. Don’t make comments that insinuate you’re a victim dude. And lost the ridiculous piercings already.
