The Winery Dogs, featuring Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater, Avenged Sevenfold), Billy Sheehan (Steve Vai), and Richie Kotzen (Poison), are set to release their new self-titled album on July 23. “It’s very exciting for me to be in a solid rock trio,” Portnoy says. “Stylistically, the bulk of my career has been spent playing progressive music, so this was an opportunity for me to do something that wasn’t prog or metal. It’s more classic rock and, at the end of the day that’s what I grew up with and that’s the biggest influence in my life.” In anticipation, the supergroup has teamed up with Revolver to launch the Q&A video below, in with Portnoy talks about the band’s album and music. Check it out and let us know what you think in the comments.
