Flashback Video: Pantera Cover Metallica Live in 1994 with Jason Newsted on Bass, Phil Anselmo on Guitar, and Dimebag on Vocals

Pantera were never ones to shy away from a good jam. And one of their best took place in San Jose, California, in 1994 when the band welcomed then-Metallica bassist Jason Newsted to join them in ripping renditions of his band’s “Seek and Destroy” and “Whiplash.” Even cooler, Phil Anselmo and Dimebag Darrell swapped places, with Anselmo riffing–and even soloing–on guitar and Dime taking up the mic. Phil calls the ad hoc supergroup Pantallica–which does sound a helluva lot more badass than, say, Mantera. But whatever you choose to call it, the undeniable fact is that it’s fucking awesome.
