Flashback Video: Young Gun N’ Roses Destroy the Set During 1987 MTV Interview

guns n' roses

Yesterday, Guns N’ Roses’ classic debut album, ‘Appetite for Destruction,’ turned 27. In celebration, we’re looking back on the early days of the GN’R.

In this rare clip from 1987, the young band is interviewed on MTV–who initially misidentify the group as “Guns & Roses” instead of “Guns N’ Roses.” Axl, Slash, Izzy, Duff, and Steven are asked about their banned album artwork, earning the dislike of other bands, and the challenges of getting the “Welcome to the Jungle” music video on TV. But the highlight comes at the end of the clip when the admirably mulleted host offers the group 30 seconds to “redecorate this room.” Needless to say, the bandmates truly prove their appetite for destruction.
