KISS Announce They Won’t Play Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Ceremony

kiss_2KISS are part of the 2014 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees, but they have announced they will not perform at the ceremony in any form. Read the statement from the band below:

To All Our Fans In Regards To The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame:

Out of respect, Ace and Peter’s recent statements demand a quick response to you, our fans.

Our intention was to celebrate the entire history of KISS and give credit to all members including long time present members Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer, and additionally Bruce Kulick and Eric Carr all who have made this band what it is, regardless of the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame’s point of view.

Although KISS has moved forward far longer without them, Ace and Peter are at the very foundation of what we have built and this would all be impossible had they not been a part of it in the beginning.

It is over 13 years since the original lineup has played together in make-up and we believe the memory of those times would not be enhanced. Contrary to claims made through the media we have never refused to play with Ace and Peter.

We have spent 40 years dedicated to building KISS without quitting or wavering as the band has moved forward with huge tours and platinum albums through different important lineups for forty years, to this day.

KISS has always been a band unlike any other. That is why we started KISS. That is why we continue KISS. Being unlike other bands also means making choices and decisions unlike other bands.

This is understandably an emotional situation where there is no way to please everyone.

To bring this to a quick end, we have decided not to play in any line-up and we will focus our attention on celebrating our induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.

We are excited and are looking forward to seeing you all on the KISS 40th Anniversary worldwide tour.

    kiss withouth ace isn’t kiss

Total B.S.!! original line up should perform, end of discussion. Gene and Paul has let fame go to thier heads and forgot how they got there. Without Ace and Criss, it ain’t Kiss.

  • David

I think they all should have one big jam with all living members, past & present playing together in celebration of what they all have done. For one night they should all lose the make up & the attitude and celebrate everything KISS.

  • Steve Siebold

To ALL the members, former and current, of KISS: Grow up. Your fans have made you RICH and FAMOUS for 40 years. Stop acting like spoiled children and give them a show.

  • Fear Monkey

I guess they have hit “Rock Bottom”……………..

Let’s see; when I heard that Kiss was finally being inducted I knew I had to go to the induction ceremony. Here’s what I’m in for: $100 for the ticket, $200 for a hotel room and a six hour drive to and from New York. Then I find out they aren’t even going to show? I’ve been a Kiss fan since ’75, stood by them when everyone I knew was telling me how much they suck, and this is how they do? Fuck you Gene and Paul! I’m done with you. FUCK YOU!

    • Paul

They never said they weren’t attending. They just said they weren’t performing

      • hardrockinmofo

You are correct. I was actually meaning to say perform but in the heat of the moment, I worded my rant wrong.

  • KISS fan

KISS doesn’t need Ace and Peter, obviously, but since they will be ridiculed for performing for who they are now, it’s best they don’t perform at all. This is the right decision on their part. I understand their decision because I have been a fan of all eras and have always supported the active/current members of the band. The Peter/Ace KISS did a lot in such little time ( and I’m proud of them), but there have been other members who have done just as much, if not more, while being in the band longer than them. They won’t be recognized for their contributions through the Eighties and Nineties (one decade more material than the originals) and that is the shame!

How big of an ass is Gene? Now you know. All living members should jam together on a couple hits. All are great players and could do the songs in their sleep. Also, remember Gene and Paul refuse to go on That Metal Show because they got their feelings hurt. Boo Hoo. Even though they wear a codpieces, they have no balls.
