Megadeth Streaming New Song, “Super Collider”

Megadeth are streaming the title track from their new album, Super Collider, over at their YouTube page, MegadethTV.

You can check it out below.

The song also is available at iTunes now for $1.29. Super Collider — the album — is scheduled for a June 4 release via Dave Mustaine’s new label, Tradecraft, which is distributed by Universal Music Enterprises (UMe).

[“Super Collider”] kind of came from that ‘Symphony of Destruction’ corner of my mind,” Mustaine told Guitar World in the new June 2013 issue. “You can’t always play aggressive, thrashy stuff. Sometimes those aren’t even songs; they’re like musical rams.

“But because I’m not a pop guy, I’m also not really comfortable playing sing-along songs. To me, ‘Super Collider’ made sense like a normal song — a verse-chorus-verse-chorus kind of thing. It’s written the way a real songwriter would write the song, instead of just taking all these musical twists and turns.”

For the rest of this interview with Megadeth’s Mustaine and Chris Broderick, check out the June 2013 issue of Guitar World, which is available now at the Guitar World Online Store.

For the Megadeth story and more, including sidebars on Jackson Guitars’ Chris Broderick Pro Series Soloist model and Dean Guitars’ Dave Mustaine Signature Series, plus features on Louder Than Hell: The Definitive Oral History of Heavy Metal, Alice In Chains’ Jerry Cantrell, Adam Jones of Tool, the history of Epiphone guitars and more, check out the June 2013 issue at theGuitar World Online Store.

I LOVE MEGADETH! Been a fan for like 20 years. That being said, I am disappointed by this track. ENDGAME was an amazing record and a return to Megadeth’s true form. Even though Dave recycled the chorus from Disconnect (The World Needs a Hero) on the track Bodies, Endgame gave me hope that Megadeth would FINALLY be recognized as Thrash Metal’s founders and kings. Endgame KILLED Metallica’s Death Magnetic on EVERY level. So naturally I was REALLY excited for TH1RT3EN and unfortunately it was a disappointment for me as well. That album seemed like a half-assed attempt to fulfill Megadeth’s contractual obligations. So with that in mind I figured that Super Collider would be killer because now Mustaine & Co. have their own label and they will let’er rip. Well…. WHAT HAPPENED DAVE?

Megadeth has always been my favorite band. I still think this track kicks ass! The evolution of Dave and Co. over the years has been very cool to listen to. Sweet work.

Mellow paced song, with “lalalalala” lyrics. That’s what megadeth never was …

Where’s the aggressiveness ? Where’s the speed thrash on the guitars ? The war drums ? Where’s Nick and Marty ? WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU DAVE ? Lost yourself in “CleanLand” ?

Metalsucks got it right with “Pooper Collider”. Th1rt3en really disappointed me because Endgame was so awesome. Some will like this, and I’ll still check it out, but I hope that the other tracks blow me away because this isn’t good for Megadeth
