It shows promise I think. I like it, although it def could use a little streamlining IMHO.

Good stuff. I wish my garage jams sounded like this. Needs a little polish before it’s a real Metallica tune.

People are unfairly harsh on Metallica. Usually any fan feedback is laced with bias favourably or unfavourably to wards them. I’d like to offer a bit of unbiased opinion to the mix.

The Lords of Summer track is good quality but it still sounds like a demo, which is fine. But, in fairness, that makes it hard to have an opinion on the song as it represents the sound of Metallica.

It lacks a bit of intensity throughout the song. But there are moments when the intensity picks up. I’m confident the final studio version will have that intensity throughout the whole song.

I like the echo effect with the lyrics. And I’m glad the lyrics are different from the cliched “Grr-Grr-Mad-Kill” lyrics that tends to be overkilled in metal.

I feel like that build before the solo at the 5 minute mark could be a bit stronger (a little more Broken, Beat and Scarred-ish or Creeping Death-ish).

People were dissing the solo but it sounds like a great solo to me. I like the speed of it and where Kirk is playing it.
All in all, it’s a good start to an album that we know nothing about. Looking forward to it.

better than anything on “Death Magnetic” – bodes well…

    • Son of Rob (not Trujillo)

Wow. You must not have spent much time listening to Death Magnetic.

      • Mark Eglinton

Err. I spent a lot of time listening to it and it was mostly average. Even the EP of tracks that didn’t (should have) made it on the record was better.

  • Christopher Moon

Pretty cool! Still glad they are back to digging for their roots.

  • Dj

This sounds really great to me. I dont understand why people are giving it shit. I think people are just waiting anymore to point their fingers at Metallica. James voice sounds weird. But it’s a demo. I can’t wait. Death Magnetic ruled.

if memory serves then wouldnt this song be in the same boat as the two “new songs” they premiered live before Death Magnetic? they played two songs that they just called New Songs live that had bits and pieces of a handful of what eventually made its way onto DM, but with entirley different lyrics. just seems to be whats going on here. i doubt that this WHOLE thing will be on their next album, but im sure the riffs will find thier way into it.
