‘Revolver’ Golden Gods Awards Winners Announced

The fourth annual Revolver Golden Gods Award Show brought the house down at Club Nokia in Los Angeles on April 11 with groundbreaking performances and once-in-a-lifetime collaborations that America’s only hard-rock and heavy-metal show have become known for. Broadcast live in its entirety on Xbox LIVE and the Revolver Facebook page, the sold-out event featured the greatest in hard rock and heavy metal and was hosted again by Fozzy front man and WWE pro-wrestling legend Chris Jericho. Album of the Year honors at this year’s event went to Korn for their critically acclaimed album The Path of Totality.  

The evening featured surprise appearances including Johnny Depp playing guitar on two Marilyn Manson songs, “Sweet Dreams” and “The Beautiful People,” and Taylor Momen joining Manson for “The Dope Show;” Slipknot’s Corey Taylor and Machine Head’s Robb Flynn joining Trivium onstage to cover Metallica’s “Creeping Death;” Slash jamming with Alice Cooper on “Schools Out;” Dee Snider performing with the Black Veil Brides for an awesome rendition of “I Wanna Rock,” and more. Highlights also include Jack Black and Kyle Glass of Tenacious D presenting the Ronnie James Dio Lifetime Achievement Award to prog-rock pioneers Rush and legendary Kiss rocker Gene Simmons taking home the “Golden God” award.

    Nikki Sixx: Best Bassist? There has to be a mix-up. I liked Motley Crue’s first 2 Albums, but who was his competition? Their are so many others that are better than him! I’m guessing it was because he was willing to be there. I don’t think he was even the best Bassist in the show. I would pick Gene Simmons over Nikki and would have to say that Geddy Lee of Rush is better than the others combined. Remember old Rush like 2112, or Moving Pictures? Those were and still are great Albums. Hemispheres and Fly by Night. Used to buy weed from this guy in Austin,TX. We would get high and he would put Rush on and play along on his Bass. My question to him was “if you are this good why aren’t you in a band and playing your own music?

      No kidding!  That crowd SUCKED.  I mean if  ROCK GREAT’s like Nikki Sixx ~SLASH Gene Simmons ~ Alice Cooper ~ Johnny Depp couldn’t even get them to act like they were at a ROCK SHOW.  Who where those people? and where were they from?  So NOT the LA that I ROCKED the Streets of.  No wonder so many are moving to VEGAS, cuz we definately ROCK Our Fucking ASSES OFF there, at ALL SHOWS!!!!!!  I can imangine what the Stars thought? Dissapointed?  They probably wanted to Kick their Asses!  They verry well should have!

    Riff Lord : Scott Ian (Sorry Slash but i know you more for solos not riffs)

    Best Drummer : Charlie Benante

    Best Guitarists : Dave Mustaine and Chris Broderick (i mean really??bvb won. thats complete horseshit that they won)

    Golden God: i personally say Steve Harris from Iron Maiden. I like gene but i wouldve picked a lot of others over him if i was in charge.

    Comeback of the year : Anthrax (i like slipknot. but when you think about it they never went away they just had a member die. and they havent even put out a new album yet so i wouldnt consider it a comeback)

    Best International band: i woulda went with Lacuna Coil. they are who i voted for

    Album of the year: Anthrax “Worship Music” by far. Korn is an overrated band and that dubstep metal crap album shouldnt have won

    Most Dedicated Fans: I actually voted for a7x only because no band i really listen to was nominated for that one.

    Most Metal Athlete: Didnt really care about this one. Im a baseball fan so i went with evan longoria

    Best Vocalist: personal opinion shouldve been Sebastian Bach. once again i dont think the “best” vocalist was even nominated

    Best Live Band: Shouldve been Judas Priest. I mean come on thats the only one they were nominated for. Pirest leaves A7X in the dust.

    Ronnie James Dio Lifetime Achievement Award: Rush. i mean this is the only award i 100% agreed with.

    I was disgusted at some of the results, I got so mad that bvb won i punched my x box and went to bed. Good thing too since from what i hear the rest of the show sucked. Luckily Metal masters 3 was coming up. Now THAT was one hell of a show

          no korns is still one of the best peroid,and what i love about them,is they have the balls to be creative,try something new.what do u think people said when they heard dark side for the 1st time,or the 1st zep album,sabbath,etc…n e way,thats what i love and respect them 4.they r not afraid to try to not b like everyone else in metal.cuzz thats what it is.yeah a blistering solo is awesome,but these so called “real”metal bands,are just so damn repetetive,jonathan is rite,rock/metal is so stale,the only thing that is fresh is the new korn.and that is the truth,have u even listened to the new album completely,i bet u havent-i could b wrong,but most people who r doin this to korn,i ask have u even heard the new shit,and of course their like no,and i said bingo,i can usually tell when someone is raggin on korn,if they have even listened to what their bitchin about,and then “oh they suck live”i say have u ever seen them?no,never seen them,people like this, just think they no everything?
