Ride for Dime Expands to Florida

The annual Ride for Dime event in memory of former Pantera and Damageplan guitarist Dimebag Darrell Abbott is to expand into Florida next year. Memorial rides have been held across the country each year since Dime's death in 2004 to raise awareness and funding for children's charities. Ride for Dime-Florida will take place in Tampa Bay and will benefit Kids Charity of Tampa Bay, a a nonprofit organization serving abused, abandoned and neglected children from the Tampa Bay area.

The ride will get underway at Dean Guitars' headquarters, with registrants able to enjoy entertainment and VIP tours of the Dean Guitars factory. The ride will finish at Brandon Harley-Davidson where all guests will enjoy a concert of local artists and a special appearance from the national Ride for Dime President, Rob Eichelberger.

“We are very excited about expanding our rides to Florida and at the same time helping abused children,” Eichelberger said.

Wayne Witczak, executive director/CEO of Kids Charity of Tampa Bay, Inc. was understandably pleased that the event had chosen their organization. “We are honored to have the Ride for Dime organization select our charity for their support and introducing our mission to more giving individuals and organizations like Dean Guitars.”

Dimebag's brother, former Pantera/current Hellyeah drummer, Vinnie Paul is pleased that the event will be taking place. "The ride does my brother proud and I appreciate it taking place in his memory."
