Testament Drummer Paul Bostaph Quits Band

Testament frontman Chuck Billy has confirmed that drummer Paul Bostaph has left the band. The former Slayer skinsman is currently suffering from an injury that has prevented him from taking part in the recording of Testament’s upcoming record—The Dark Roots of Earth—however, it had been expected that he would return to the band in time to tour.

However, Billy told the Terrorizer magazine in the U.K., “We just found out last week Paul Bostaph is not coming back to the band, he’s starting his own new project and doing some things on his own. So we’re actually going to be holding a couple of auditions with probably small group of drummers that we chose—we don’t want to have a revolving drum stool, we have a new record, we want a permanent drummer.”

Fear Factory and Dethklok drummer Gene Hoglan has been filling in for Bostaph during the recording sessions.

    paul is an amazing drummer – didn’t he leave slayer ‘due to injury’? later turned out to be because he wanted to go in a new direction?

    I love Paul Bostaph he’s an insane drummer! & as to “jfb”comment about Paul leaving Slayer,Paul never left Slayer it was because of Dave Lumbardo returning from his solo project band called Grip.Inc.& Slayer welcomed him back with open arms.

    bostaph is a heavy drummer than tempesta i think, i think he work for testament on 50 % to make it more heavier than i expected since late 80s goddamn
