“Every year, the Revolver Golden Gods grows bigger and more badass. The 2012 edition is without question the most epic one yet, from the performers and presenters to the nominees and honorees,” states Revolver Editor in Chief Brandon Geist. “And this year, with the GRAMMY Museum launching its tie-in ‘Golden Gods: The History of Heavy Metal’ exhibit, and Xbox LIVE broadcasting the show around the world as it goes down in its entirety, the event will truly encompass the full timeline of heavy music and span the globe. this whole thing is a joke.  korn released a dubstep album (yet they’re nominated in almost all instrumental categories), bands don’t have to tour to get nominated (You said yourself gnr hadn’t played a show in 4 years, how are they great live?), asking alexandria has dedicated fans? (they’re all below drinking age. hell, most aren’t even 15 yet), Anthrax toured last year (what did they “come back” from?), and all the ‘albums of the year’ were horrible.  skip.

    • IDGAF

Hey do you hear that sound? It’s all the fucks I don’t give.

  • Audrina

Most of these bands suck. I’ll just watch it to see Marilyn Manson.

    • dumbass

hey you hear that? it’s all the fucks that we don’t give.

  • Kyle Brando

  • PopCultureGoddess422

Dream Theater is nominated for Comeback of the Year, but they aren’t nominated for anything else?? WTF?? How about Best Live Band?? You obviously have never seen them in concert.  How about John Petrucci as Riff Lord?? And you cannot find more dedicated fans than Dream Theater fans!!

BVB  IS THE WORST BAND ON EARTH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Butcher

All of those bands you listed are worse than BvB. I don’t even like BvB, but they’re better than what you call “today’s” music.

    • Calvain99

Agreed man. But take out Of Mice and Men, Attack Attack, Attila, and… actually fuck it, keep Miss May I on there…THEN you have a pretty solid list.

    • You’re an idiot

Yeah uh I believe all except for 2 bands that you listed are far worse than BVB. Go fuck yourself.

  • Wickedclowns95

Wow, this is a terrible line up. I went last year just to see A7X and got see Vinnie Paul from Pantera play “Mouth For War” with them, Jamey Jasta played with Devildriver and I never heard of Volbeat, but they suprised me with how good they were.

I wanted to go just for the hell it, but I hardly consider this line-up even metal. I’m going to Mayhem Festival to see REAL metal bands.

    • Antirapper94

      I completely agree!!

  • Antirapper94

Even though I am a fan of Asking Alexandria, I really dont feel that they should be nominated for most dedicated fans. Again, I’m a fan of the band but I feel that their fan base is mainly 12 year olds who think they know what metal music really is

  • Meghan Hodgesatx

    HOLY SHIT!!!!!

  • Not_insane210

Why are bands like Evanescence and Foo Fighters being nominated for Metal awards? I thought this was the Golden God Awards….

  • Zack

    This list sucks.

    • HammerHead

I’m just reading this for the 1st time…And this list TOTALLY SUCKS indeed!!!

  • Jackiejuarez6969

  • Tovitokinimi

  • Varence

lamb of god owns the golden gods

  • HammerHead

Until so-called “Metal Awards” shows like this and others start taking their feet out of their mouths and actually start paying respect to the GREATEST metal band of all time ever ~SLAYER~…then I will continue to voice how aloof and fabricated these so-called awards are!! All of these bands have their own fan base and rightfully so. I’m a fan as well of many of these bands here. But Heyzus Christo  we’re talking about  “HEAVY-METAL AWARDS”!!! …I read this nominee list and I had to pick my jaw up off the floor…at least two and a half dozen times!! REALLY??!!! C’mon Revolver and other instruments of power, take advantage in highlighting, dedicating and respecting the awards that you’re giving instead of making a mockery out of it…

  • hope

    • Lunar36

No they aren’t! thats youre opinion. many people actually like them. how would you like if some one called your favorite band gay? you wouldnt like it. please keep bad comments to yourself

  • irishredneck

this is a hard rock and heavy metal awards show so how is it that bands like the foo fighters are even mentioned? yes people may like them and thats fine but its not hard or metal so why even be there?and Chickenfoot is very much not metal or hard rock or anything even close ! Im not saying these groups are not good or anything im just sayin be in award shows of your own genre maybe  and before any jackass says it no im not saying this cause i think these bands would beat any of the others so shut up! im saying there is no reason on gods slightly still green eart that an award show should even have the likes of a band like van halen,or foo fightsers even in the same show as 5FDP,RAMMSTEIN,mega death or black label society its almost insulting to these groups!

    • SynShadows

you lost me at Van Halen.  I’m listening to what you’re saying but it didn’t help at all when you said Van Halen shouldn’t be there.  They were one of the forerunners of the whole genre.  If they aren’t hard rock then I think all these bands have some serious identity issues to take care of.

  • Sammy7733

foo fighters  lol   that is hard rock and metal…     they are crap!!!!     BLACK LABLE SOCIETY!!  IS METAL……

  • Priscilla Maria Lemon

It wont let me FREAKING Watch it.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Marco Velasquez

Hey Black Viel Brides . . . Thank you for saying EXACTLY (at the Awards – Stream) what I was thinking, not only that, lets remove “We know you all out there are thinking we are a bunch of Emo/Screamo faggots” (I could care less that you are Gay, but thank you for revealing your self-esteem issues) . . . I was sitting here watching with DISGUST that THIS was “Music”? And Metal? Some of the LOUSIEST so-called “singing” I may have EVER heard in my life, and I have been into Metal since its conception.

I WISH Meshuggah were there to DESTROY any ideas that you guys could play your instruments, or at-least write good songs. LAME.
Would have been a great moment to go to the Can for a bowel movement :/.

Thank GOD Tenacious D cleansed the pallet to give an Award to RUSH and to my SHOCK – that Neil Peart actually showed-up to accept the award!!!!! :O He ALONE has MORE talent in his feet than BVB combined.  Thank you Neil for erasing the garbage from my head.

    • Brianna

Don’t hate on any kind of band like an immature 12 year old. I like Black Veil Brides. I might not like what you listen to, but I’m not going to hate on them. I’ll simply say ‘I don’t really like it, but if it’s something you like then that’s great’ and move on with my life. If you don’t like it, then don’t listen to it. I didn’t like Trivium but I’m not going to hate on them. It’s a waste of time and it shows the world you don’t have respect and haven’t matured yet. By BVB saying that they know what people think about them, they were saying that they didn’t care what those people thought. They even said that they were there to put on a show for the Black Veil Brides fans that were there. Granted, Andy’s mic wasn’t working so well and yes, He was rolling around on the floor too much, but No one’s perfect. Neither are you. And I know I’m not. They still played their asses off and deserve some respect for that. All the bands that played did. But I guess you just don’t really understand the word ‘respect’ yet, since you don’t have any for a band who worked hard to get where they are now. Sit down and think about it. Do you want to look like a disrespectful ingrate, or do you want to look like someone who can rise above everyone’s immaturity and be respectful at the same time?

      • josh

but these are the FUCKING METAL AWARDS how do you not listen to it. BVB gots some alright music but they should not be up here.

    • Jsohb0666

glad someone else has some sense.

  • Amber Geiger

I can’t believe Disturbed didn’t win anything! Has anyone actually LISTENED to them?! I think we Disturbed 1’s are probably THE most dedicated and crazy…after all, we are all are Disturbed, right? Anyway, I’m glad that John Moyer got to be there: he’s awesome! I wish that Dan’s wicked guitar skills were recognized more: he, (along with my brother and David and Mike), are my ultimate inspiration in both music and life. I’m glad that Avenged Sevenfold, Evanescence, Slipknot and Tool were given attention: they’re also totally awesome.
    Keep on rockin’! m/
(“I don’t write the lies, YOU interpret them.”)

    • David.

Probably because they weren’t even nominated, and a7x fans do crazy shit like tattoo themselves in dedication.

    • FallingintoDarkness

no its for all rock and heavy metal

  • Ana-silva

what is your problem with the BVB!! i know some people don’t like, that’s ok! but people don’t have always to say something bad about them!! i don’t like some things here and i’m not alwas saying they’re terrible or they shouldn’t be here! so please GROW UP, and accept BVB have a lot of fans!!!

  • Dimemetal124

im not talking this seriously because its just a popularity contest, talent doesnt matter anymore just looks. and stupid fangirls need to keep their mouths shut and grow up. you bvb fangirls need to realize that some people dont like your fave band. its sad that talent doesnt matter anymore.
