The Melvins Seek Guinness World Record for Fastest Tour of the U.S.

The Melvins have announced that their upcoming fall tour will attempt to jettison them into the Guinness Book of World Records as having played the fastest tour of the U.S. by any band.

The band’s 51-day tour features dates in all 50 states as well as Washington D.C., and will kick off September 5 in Anchorage, Alaska and wrap up October 25 in Honolulu, Hawaii.

“We figured it was time for us to do something REALLY crazy,” said Buzz Osborne. “51 shows in 50 states plus 1 on D.C. and all in 51 days? Jeez! I wonder if we can do it?”

You can find all the dates for the tour — which is set to feature the Melvins Lite lineup of Buzz Osborne, Dale Crover and Trevor Dunn — below.

The new album from Melvins Lite, Freak Puke, is out today.

This will break George Thorogood’s record…in the early 80′s he did a 50 /50 tour (50 states in 50 days)
