The Revolver Golden Gods Awards Show returned to their home at Club Nokia in Los Angeles on Wednesday, April 23, delivering nearly four hours of groundbreaking performances and once-in-a-lifetime collaborations that America’s only hard-rock and heavy-metal show has become known for.  #GoldenGods trended worldwide on Twitter throughout the night, and the event was streamed live on Amazon, VH1.com and the VH1 app.  VH1 Classic will air the Golden Gods Awards on Saturday, May 24.

Eddie Trunk, Don Jamieson and Jim Florentine of VH1 Classic’s “That Metal Show” took on hosting duties for the evening, with Twister Sister frontman Dee Snider returning as host of the “Black Carpet” pre-show special.  The event featured appearances by a lengthy list of rock royalty and celebrity rock fans including Guns N’ Roses, Joan Jett, Suicide Silence, Zakk Wylde, The Pretty Reckless, A Day to Remember, Slayer, Nicolas Cage, Marilyn Manson, Chester Bennington and Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park, Dave Navarro, Carmen Electra, Tony Hawk, Jacoby Shaddix, Doyle (The Misfits), Pauley Perrette, Scott Ian, The Winery Dogs (Billy Sheehan, Mike Portnoy and Richie Kotzen), Joe Manganiello, Alice Cooper, Richie Sambora, Bam Margera and more.

Slayer surprised the Revolver Golden Gods Awards Show crowd by opening the show with a three-song set that included the debut of their new song “Implode.”  The surprise set, introduced by Marilyn Manson, provided a fitting opening to the 2014 show following 2013’s tribute to the band’s late, great guitarist Jeff Hanneman.  Throughout the remainder of the evening, the Revolver Golden Gods Awards show brought fans the one-of-a-kind surprise collaborations and show-stopping moments that the event has become known for.  Suicide Silence made a high-energy performance debuting new frontman Hernan “Eddie” Hermida in a set that also included a guest appearance by Max Cavalera (founding frontman of Sepultura, Soulfly, Nailbomb and Cavalera Conspiracy, and a member of the new supergroup Killer Be Killed).  Iconic axeman Zakk Wylde provided a stripped-down piano performance of “In This River” as an emotional tribute to the past decade’s Fallen Heroes.  A Day to Remember also took the stage with a set featuring hits “End of Me,” “All I Want” and “Right Back at it Again.”

Former Golden God Award winner Alice Cooper presented Joan Jett with this year’s Golden God Award honor, making her the first female recipient of the prestigious award.  Jett followed with a high-powered performance including recent single “Any Weather” and her hit “I hate Myself for Loving You,” which featured a cameo from Taylor Momsen.  Momsen also performed earlier in the evening with her band The Pretty Reckless.  Guns N’ Roses frontman Axl Rose took home the final award of the evening, receiving the Ronnie James Dio Lifetime Achievement Award from award-winning actor Nicolas Cage. Guns N’ Roses closed the show with an epic 40 minute set that featured founding bassist Duff McKagan and included some of the bands biggest hits like “Sweet Child O’ Mine,” “November Rain” and “Paradise City.”

In addition to Rose and Jett’s awards, Golden Gods were awarded in a series of fan-voted categories.  The following is a complete list of the night’s award winners:
