MARILYN MANSON AND SLAYER TO TOP THE BILL ON THE SECOND ANNUAL ROCKSTAR ENERGY DRINK MAYHEM FESTIVAL

Die Hard 2, Aliens, Road Warrior, and The Two Towers notwithstanding, we all know that sequels pretty much always suck. Hard. Which is why everyone who got their asses rocked at last summer’s Revolver-sponsored Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival tour (and that is everyone) could hardly be blamed for feeling a little skeptical about what this year’s edition might hold in store. After all, how the Hell do you top a bill that included Slipknot, Disturbed, Mastodon, Machine Head, Suicide Silence, and dudes flying through the air on dirt bikes?

Mayhem co-founder Kevin Lyman, the man also behind the Vans Warped Tour and its wintry counterpart Taste of Chaos, is well aware that he set the bar very high for himself. “I think people thought we would have a hard time coming up with a lineup that matched up with 2008,” he says. “Well, I think we did.”

And we have to agree. Mayhem Part Deux boasts a Hot Topic Stage manned by Whitechapel, Black Dahlia Murder, Job for a Cowboy, Behemoth, and Cannibal Corpse, and a Jägermeister Stage with God Forbid, All That Remains, and Trivium. Add a Main Stage featuring Bullet for My Valentine, Slayer, and Marilyn Manson, and this looks to be a sequel of Godfather II proportions. In fact, you could say that Lyman has made us a fest that we can’t refuse.

theres alot better bands that could be put on, like despised icon, carnifex, or beneath the massacre added to the seccond or third stage would be sick...but it would bring in alot more people to bump bullet for my valentine, bring up behemoth and add bloodbath or meshuggah!!! I would also want to see my dying bride live, but i bet alot of people wouldnt like them

there has to bee more for the main stage, yeah slayer and manson kick major ass, but bullet? really bullet is on a stage of madness? you cant put bullet with cannibal, whitechapel, and JFAC. bullet belongs in like a show with sevenfold or something. there needs to be like a big metal band...hmm...only 1 ringing in my head....LAMB OF GOD. Maybe need to add in 5 Finger again too cause when i went last year, they were the main band besides slipknot and disturbed. people were all over them. they need to be in this line up, then it will be the Godfather II, this is not there yet and why is trivium on the side stage? just curious.

Mmm....What I like about this lineup is that they are all bands I wanted to see for one reason or another. I've got to see Slayer live and I hear Manson put on a hell of a show, regardless of who is and is not a fan. My only singular complaint: The varity isn't quite as broad as it was last year. Last year really had something for everyone. This year seems to be a little heavy on the death metal aspect, which is great for fans of death metal, but still....As for the extra slot, put Shadows Fall or Mushroomhead on there. Shadows Fall because they put on a flawless show and Mushroomhead as an F.U. to Slipknot. Fuck it up, true believers.

Went last year. Had pit tickets. It was fricking great. This year I am not as excited on the line up but still going to get the pit tickets because we have never seen Manson preform. Everytime they came to Jersey, something happened. And I have to agree with the commment on, besides the f.u. to Slipknot, 1-28-09 @11:20.
