BOOTLEG: EXCLUSIVE SUICIDE SILENCE DOWNLOAD, “LIFTED”
In our never-ending quest to give you, the reader, the best music available, we present the Revolver Bootleg series. Throughout each month, we’ll post cool, new, and often-exclusive tracks right here for you to hear before anyone else.
This installment is the song “Lifted” by Golden Gods Best New Talent winners Suicide Silence, off their forthcoming album, No Time to Bleed (Century Media), which doesn’t hit stores until June 30. The track has been streaming on the band’s MySpace page, but it’s only available for download here. So crank up your speakers, and read on to see what vocalist Mitch Lucker has to say about the making of the song and why it’s got the fans singing along to it already.
REVOLVER What’s the song “Lifted” about?
MITCH LUCKER It’s me on the outside looking in on a person with a filthy addiction to a certain intravenous drug. And it’s me telling them to basically just get "lifted" instead of being dependent on a numb reality that's not real or you.
Which part of it did the band come up with first? And what was the inspiration?
That creepy, crazy riff. That is one that Chris Garza made… It’s the intro. And everything was totally made off that. It’s funny because Garza’s inspiration is 100-percent Korn! [Laughs]
Which part of the lyrics did you come up with first? What was the inspiration for those?
They were just in my book and had been for a long time, and I knew they fit the mood of the song the second I heard that crazy sound that Garza created.
Was this an easy song to write or record?
It actually came together quickly. We did preproduction two times by ourselves and had time to nitpick and shit before we went in with [producer] Machine to record.
How did you decide where to place “Lifted” on the album?
Well, we wanted it to be heard near the beginning because it doesn’t sound like anything else so it was an easy choice to put it second. It’s the perfect follow-up to the skull-bashing track “Wake Up.”
What sort of feedback have you gotten on this song so far?
So far it’s been amazing as kids started screaming the entire song like the day after we put it up on our page for kids to jam. So I guess that's a good sign!

These guys have been doing this long before there was such thing as a "scene" back before the vast ocean of different "made up" core genres. So they get plenty of respect from my musical social group (metal heads) as well from the (scene group)thus enabling them for a widerange selection for success.
