Photos: Meshuggah and Baroness, Live in San Francisco

Meshuggah have been touring in support of their crushing new record, Koloss, along with openers prog-sludge rockers Baroness, who drop their highly anticipated new double-album, Yellow & Green, in July. On May 6, they swung through the Fillmore in San Francisco, where photographer Stephanie Cabral was on hand to capture the mayhem as it happened. Check out what she saw of both bands below.

I saw the Anaheim show, at the House of Blues in the heart of Disney Hell. Decapitated was good. I’m a Baroness fan, and I’ve seen them play great sets in San Diego at the Casbah and the House of Blues, but I agree with SVH, they were kind of boring. Not their best set. After being subjected to 30 consecutive minutes of Rod Stewart’s “Do Ya Think I’m Sexy” between the Baroness and Meshuggah sets (I’d like to know if Meshuggah or HoB was to blame for this), Meshuggah put on an incredible show. 90 minutes of skull crushing metal. They are just unbelievable live.

We were treated to the same 30 minute Rod Stewart BS at the SF show too so it was probably Meshuggah’s sense of humor showing through.
