Review: P.O.D. - Murdered Love

A decade removed from their platinum-selling Satellite days, these earnest rap-metal survivors are still building big-chorus riff bombs designed to set off the youth of the nation: Be assured that P.O.D.’s return to Indieland hasn’t led to a sonic downsizing in crunchy new cuts like “Higher” and “Lost in Forever.” That said, Murdered Love is best when all the anthemic stuff comes equipped with the sort of infectious grooves that the band’s SoCal stomping ground is known for. In “Bad Boy,” frontman Sonny Sandoval describes his low-key search for Miss Right, while “West Coast Rock Steady” makes room for an always-welcome cameo by Sen Dog of Cypress Hill. MIKAEL WOOD
