Minneapolis, Minnesota, rockers 3 Pill Morning recently released their debut full-length, Black Tie Love Affair, and are since dedicated to living on the road, playing shows, and getting their music out there, as they have been since their formation. Here, frontman vocalist Jeff Stebbins talks of the upcoming summer tour and plans for new music!

REVOLVER Can you fill us in a little on the back story of the band?
JEFF STEBBINS Absolutely. We started around 2004. We basically had a lot of different musicians playing for fun, then wrote more music. Outside of the area, everything started happening for us, touring many times, signed to a record label, and releasing an album, all from Minneapolis.

How did you guys come up with your band name?
We had a long list of bad names we didn’t choose from, so we went with this one and, to us, it looked like this…you know, no matter how many pills you take, whether it’d be three for this or three for that, everyone is on some sort of medication. We took the number 3 and really having fun with it.

What is the music scene like in Minneapolis? Are there any local bands you could recommend?
We’re out of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and I think there’s pretty much everything here, a ton of bands, musicians, and music venues, so you can see anything except country here. There’s a couple of bands on the rock side are Throw The Fight and New Medicine. Two great bands!

What lyrical theme do you guys use in your music? What message do you want to send?
I think almost everything is something we’ve experienced or seen happen to someone else. It’s all about the world around us, and to put it to a song that everyone can relate too. Make that a part of who they are.

What bands have influenced your band and its sound?
We all listen to a ton of different music from hardcore to hip hop, rock, pop, all of that plays a part of who you are. If you look at lot of the older-school rock or the’ 90s, and modern-rock bands, there’s a lot of great music out there.

Do you guys have any new music in the works?
We’re always trying to put ideas together when on the road, so we got ideas lyrically, riffs, so sometime this fall, we’re put these ideas together for new stuff.

What have you done to prepare yourselves for the tour coming up?
Over the last two years we’ve played a lot of shows, so we’re excited but not just because of the bands we’re playing with, but the House of the Blues are celebrating their anniversary so it should be a fun time for everyone.

What are you looking forward to about working with the bands on this tour?
Just watching how they do things, every night and every tour we’re learning what they’re doing and trying to continue to find ways in how to improve our music and shows. Just getting a chance of meeting their fans and our fans as well, everyone wins!

What can the fans expect to see from you in the future?
Tour, tour, tour!

Do you want to say or add anything else?
I think the biggest thing is that we love having people come out to the shows, meeting them after the show, buying our music and merch, so come out and check us out live and party with us!

Midwest hard rock group 3 Pill Morning is gearing up for the release of its label debut, Black Tie Love Affair, Tuesday, July 17, via A2Z/Page 2 Music/eOne.

In the meantime, Revolver is bringing you the exclusive stream of the entire album below.

“From our perspective, Black Tie Love Affair is the album that will put 3 Pill Morning on the map to stay,” said vocalist Jeff Stebbins. “We’ve been a band for a long time and our expectations for this release are light years beyond what we’ve pushed for before. Our plans are simple, tour, tour, tour, and always be writing and pushing to beat anything we’ve done before.”

Black Tie Love Affair was recorded in winter 2012 with producer/engineer, Jon King (Augustana, Future Leaders of The World, Throwing Gravity, Darling Parade), at his Page 2 Studios in Nashville, Tennessee. Darcy Fray at I Am Thinker supplied cover artwork for the release. The band’s label debut will look to build on the success of the 2011 independent release, Take Control, which broke into the national spotlight behind the hit single, “Loser,” a mainstay on the Active Rock Top 100 chart for over five months.

3 Pill Morning is Jeff Stebbins, vocals; Ryan Walch, guitar/keys; Charlie McCoy, bass/vocals; Trent Laugerman, drums.
