The 48 Hours Festival, Powered by Rockstar Energy Drink, featured many of the biggest names in hard rock, including Avenged Sevenfold and Korn, and took place last month on the Las Vegas Strip. RevolverTV was there to capture the weekend in all its glory.

Bullet for My Valentine have had to pull out of their appearance at the 48 Hours Festival, powered by Rockstar Energy Drink, in Las Vegas this weekend. In a statement, the band said: “We are sorry to inform fans that due to a family illness Bullet for My Valentine will be unable to perform… Bullet for My Valentine are extremely sorry to disappoint their fans, but know that the 48 Hours Festival will be an energetic event. The band are looking forward to playing for all their Vegas fans in 2012 in support of a new album.”

Valora–the band led by singer Syd Duran, one of the women spotlighted in Revolver‘s current Hottest Chicks in Hard Rock issue–are playing the 48 Hours Festival in Vegas this weekend. In anticipation of the big show, the group is debuting new song, “Live,” right here right now. What’s “Live” about?
“Live” is a passionate, musical expression of the underrated power that we hold in the words we speak.
Which part of it did you come up with first? What was the inspiration?
I cowrote this song with the Matrix. We came up with the hook, “Killers make me wanna live.” It was inspired by the warm, fuzzy feeling I got from douchebags, bitches, and arrogant bastards–great beer!–in high school.
Was this an easy song to write or record?
We wrote this song in about two days. Lyrics and music came pretty easily, but the melody was a little more tricky. This song actually challenged some of the highest notes in my vocal range.
What sort of feedback have you gotten on this song so far?
The feedback that I have gotten from guys tends to sound something like, “Sick riff!” While a lot of girls have commented on the depth and transparency of the lyrics. Both reactions are equally satisfying!
Revolver is holding our “Hottest Chicks in Hard Rock” issue release party this Saturday at the 48 Hours Festival, Powered by Rockstar Energy Drink, in Las Vegas. Rockers Fozzy, starring Revolver Golden Gods host Chris Jericho, and the Sin City Sinners will be performing, and Hatebreed’s Jamey Jasta will be hosting. Were that not exciting enough, some of the issues featured ladies will be there to sign copies of the new issue (which is available here and on newsstands everywhere) and the 2012 Hottest Chicks in Hard Rock calendar (available here). In This Moment’s Maria Brink, Eyes Set to Kill’s Alexia and Anissa Rodriguez, Valora’s Syd Duran, and the Butcher Babies’ Carla Harvey and Heidi Shepherd will all be in attendance. Plus, there will be a special DJ set by DJ Wulf of Black Tide.

The 48 Hours Festival, Powered by Rockstar Energy Drink, will be releasing single-day “Lightweight” tickets to the event for the price of $79. These tickets will go on sale for 48 hours only beginning at midnight PT tonight.
Festival co-producer John Oakes says of the tickets: “If you can only handle 24 hours of the 48 Hours Festival, we’re offering you the chance to save by purchasing a single day ‘Lightweight’ ticket.”
The festival will be taking place at the Luxor Festival Grounds on the Las Vegas Strip over the weekend of October 14 and 15. Saturday’s lineup is lead by Avenged Sevenfold and Five Finger Death Punch, while highlights on Sunday include performances by Korn and Godsmack.

The winner of the charity auction will receive exclusive onstage access to watch the main stage, access to the backstage bar, as well entry to the event’s kick-off and after party and the chance to meet performers Steel Panther, and much more besides.
