Today, RevolverMag.com presents the exclusive premiere of “Badass Rock N Roll,” a new song by Canadian cult-metal act Anvil. The track is from the band’s new album, Hope In Hell, which will be released May 28 by The End Records.
The album shows guitarist/vocalist Steve “Lips” Kudlow, drummer Robb Reiner and their new bassist Sal Italiano in top form. “We’re really proud and already love the new album just as much as our early releases from the beginning of the ’80s, because Hope In Hell sounds like Anvil live on stage: natural, honest, unvarnished, never over-produced and straight from the heart,” Kudlow says.
Hope In Hell was written and recorded following an 18-month world tour that took Anvil around the globe. “We hadn’t expected this kind of extensive tour when we brought out Juggernaut Of Justice,” Kudlow says. “Time just flew by. I could hardly believe it when I found myself in the studio again after the tour, ready to work on the next album. The reactions to Juggernaut Of Justice and the shows had been so positive that we had plenty of ideas and inspiration for new material.”
There are some surprises on Hope In Hell, including the song we’re premiering today: “A song like ‘Badass Rock ’N’ Roll,’ with its rock and roll groove, surprised even me,” Kudlow adds. “It shows our great respect for bands like AC/DC and Motörhead. I’m sure all Anvil fans will love this song because it’s the best we’ve done in this direction.”

Canadian metallers Anvil are now streaming their new album, Juggernaut of Justice, in its entirety on their Myspace page. The album, which was recorded at Dave Grohl’s Studio 606 in Northridge, California, is set for release on May 10. The iTunes version of Juggernaut of Justice will feature the bonus track “What I Want To Be.”
This is the band’s first release on The End Records. The band’s last album, 2007′s This Is Thirteen, was self-released before later being re-released by VH1 Classic Records.
