As I Lay Dying Singer Tim Lambesis Pleads Not Guilty in Murder-for-Hire Plot

On Thursday, As I Lay Dying singer Tim Lambesis pleaded not guilty to charges that he paid an undercover agent $1,000 to kill his estranged wife, reports The Associated Press.

Lambesis, 32, was arraigned in North San Diego County Superior Court on a charge of solicitation of murder. His bail has been set at $3 million. If he is released, he will have to wear GPS monitoring device and accept travel restrictions.

Lambesis was arrested Tuesday, May 7, at the Barnes & Noble in Oceanside, California, after he was recorded telling an undercover agent that he wanted Meggan Lambesis, his wife, dead. The singer gave the agent, who was known simply as “Red,” an envelope full of money and instructions on how to kill Meggan, including her address, security gate code, photos and more.

The Associated Press reports that authorities staged the operation after Lambesis told a man at his gym that he wanted Meggan killed because she was making it difficult for him to see their children and complete their divorce. Lambesis’ lawyer, Anthony Salerno, told reporters that the case was a setup.

“Law enforcement was being fed something by someone that I strongly believe was a snitch, was out to save his own skin and was trumping things up, exaggerating things,” Salerno said in a statement.

Salerno said he expected Lambesis to make bail. The singer would also not be allowed to leave San Diego except to visit his lawyer in LA, which calls into question a planned 30-city tour As I Lay Dying has booked with Killswitch Engage that was supposed to start May 30 in Oklahoma City.

On Thursday, the rest of the band — Jordan Mancino (drums), Phil Sgrosso (rhythm guitar, backing vocals), Nick Hipa (lead guitar, backing vocals) and Josh Gilbert (bass, clean vocals) — posted this note on their website:

“As we post this, the legal process is taking its course and we have no more information than you do. There are many unanswered questions, and the situation will become clearer in the coming days and weeks. We’ll keep you informed as best we can.

“Our thoughts right now are with Tim, his family, and with everyone else affected by this terrible situation — and with our fans, whom we love and draw strength from. Thank you for understanding, and as always, for your support of As I Lay Dying.”

As I Lay Dying Comment on Tim Lambesis’ Arrest in Alleged Murder-for-Hire Sting

As we reported yesterday, As I Lay Dying singer Tim Lambesis was arrested Tuesday at the Barnes & Noble in Oceanside, California, for allegedly hiring someone to kill his estranged wife.

The rest of the band — Jordan Mancino (drums), Phil Sgrosso (rhythm guitar, backing vocals), Nick Hipa (lead guitar, backing vocals) and Josh Gilbert (bass, clean vocals) — have officially commented on the news. They posted this note on their website last night:

“To our fans,

“Our thoughts right now are with Tim, his family, and with everyone else affected by this terrible situation — and with our fans, whom we love and draw strength from.

“Thank you for understanding, and as always, for your support of As I Lay Dying.”

Authorities began investigating Lambesis on May 2, after receiving information that he allegedly was trying to get someone to kill his wife. He was booked into the Vista Jail, also in San Diego County, and is scheduled to appear before a judge this afternoon, May 9, in Vista.

Tim Lambesis (pictured above, center), the lead singer from metal band As I Lay Dying, was arrested yesterday in Southern California. Authorities said he tried to hire an undercover detective to kill his estranged wife.

Lambesis, 32, was arrested at a store in Oceanside, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department said in a statement.

The statement added that said detectives received information last Thursday that Lambesis had solicited someone to kill his wife, who lives in Encinitas. A task force from several law enforcement agencies launched an investigation that led to Lambesis’ arrest.

That’s all we know at the moment, but stay tuned for updates as we get them!

As I Lay Dying formed in San Diego in 2000 and has released six albums, including the hugely popular An Ocean Between Us from 2007 and their latest effort, Awakened, which was released in September 2012.

According to the band’s website, As I Lay Dying are scheduled to tour the US later this month.

Suicide Silence Announce Mitch Lucker Memorial Show Details

Suicide Silence have just released more details about their special memorial show for singer Mitch Lucker, who died tragically last month from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.

The show will see the remaining members of Suicide Silence perform an extensive set featuring a different vocalist on each song.

Proceeds for the show will go to a memorial created in Lucker’s honor, which will go toward’s providing the singer’s young daughter, Kenadee, with an education. If you can’t make it out to the show, you can still donate to the fund at this location.
