Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival, the world’s biggest hard and heavy music touring festival announces its electrifying sixth-year lineup. Artists performing on the 2013 thunderous fest include main stage metal and horror legend, festival closer, Rob Zombie, plus, the triple gold certified Five Finger Death Punch and a monster lineup that includes additional main stage bands Mastodon & Amon Amarth. The festival area is led by stage closers Children of Bodom and Machine Head as well as Behemoth, Job For A Cowboy, Emmure, Born of Osiris, Motionless In White, Butcher Babies, Battlecross, Huntress, Thrown Into Exile and City In The Sea. Four stages will be presented this year for the first time ever and the stages include the Rockstar Energy Drink Main Stage, The Jagermeister Stage, Musician’s Institute Stage, as well as the Sumerian Records/Headbang for the Highway Concourse Stage (local bands performing on the Sumerian Records/Headbang for the Highway Stage will be announced in June).

The 2013 Golden God Award recipient, a rock icon and auteur filmmaker with insight and unlimited vision, Rob Zombie has continuously challenged audiences as he stretches the boundaries of music, film, and publishing. Now, the seven-time Grammy nominated recording artist releases his fifth solo album, Venomous Rat Regeneration Vendor, which streets April 23, and includes the first single, “ Dead City Radio and the New Gods of Super Town,” along with such tracks as “Ging Gang Gong De Do Gong De Laga Raga,” “Lucifer Rising,” “Behold! The Pretty Filthy Creatures” and a heavy-duty cover of Grand Funk Railroad’s “We’re an American Band.” Rob Zombie’s Venomous Rat Regeneration Vendor is the first release on his new label, Zodiac Swan, through T-Boy Records/UME. Zombie’s also written and directed his 6th feature film, “The Lords of Salem”, in theaters April 19th (Anchor Bay).
After three gold albums in a row and ten consecutive top ten radio singles, Five Finger Death Punch continue their evolution in 2013 by releasing a new single in early May, followed by their fourth studio album in June. FFDP are set to perform live at this year’s Revolver Golden Gods Awards show in Los Angeles on May 2 and will warm up for Mayhem playing this summer’s most prestigious European festivals, amongst them UK’s Download Festival and Germany’s Rock am Ring and Rock im Park.
The World’s Greatest Freestyle Motocross team The Metal Mulisha is also confirmed to perform on most dates.

Addition to the festival’s music and arts, Musicians Institute and the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival have partnered to create the Rockstar Mayhem Independent Artist Scholarship! This scholarship fully covers tuition and material fees for a two quarter IAP certificate (Room, Boarding and Travel are not included.) The application period runs from March 18 until June 1, 2013. Adam “Nergal” Darski, frontman of Polish extreme metallers Behemoth, will release his autobiography, Sacrum Profanum, in Poland on October 17. The book–which will cover his battle with leukemia, as well as his controversial anti-religious music–will initially only be made available in Polish, but according to Nergal, “depending on interest, we might be translating this into English.” Watch the first official trailer for the book below.

Sure, music videos aren’t what they used to be since MTV all but dropped the “M.” But that doesn’t mean that there aren’t still bands who give a serious shit about the clips they produce to accompany their songs. 2011 had its share of badass music videos–here are our picks for the 10 best. And if you don’t like our ranking, tell us which video is your favorite in our poll here.
10. Opeth, “The Devil’s Orchard”
The Swedish prog lords have long been regarded as true artists within their field, and in the gorgeous clip, they have the imagery to match their music.
09. Falling in Reverse, “I’m Not a Vampire”
Frontman Ronnie Radke’s struggles with addiction are well documented; here, he shows a winning willingness to laugh at himself, turning his issues with drugs into a hilarious spoof of Celebrity Rehab.
08. Suicide Silence, “You Only Live Once”
What do you get when your band rocks out right in the “range” part of a shooting range? Bloody awesomeness.
07. Asking Alexandria, “To the Stage”
These Brit metalcore maniacs live up to their party-hard image with this debauched, Trainspotting-esque clip, which ends with a twisted surprise cliff-hanger of a climax that suggests that maybe they understand that following in the footsteps of the Crüe ain’t all fun and games, after all.
06. Foo Fighters, “White Limo”
When your limo driver is motherfucking Lemmy Kilmister, you know you’re in for a bumpy ride–and in the best way possible.
05. Behemoth, “Lucifer”
As if overcoming leukemia weren’t epic enough, Behemoth main man Nergal then led his band to make this irresistibly lurid and disturbing video for the 8-minute closer to 2009 album, Evangelion. Warning: NSFW.
04. Mastodon, “Deathbound”
In this video, for a previously unreleased track from the Crack the Skye sessions, the Atlantan prog-metal mad men spoof Mister Roger’s Neighborhood to horns-throwing results. It doesn’t hurt, too, that the song is one of their heaviest in years.
03. Puscifer, “Man Overboard”
Tool’s music video are legendary, of course, and with this clip from his side band Puscifer, frontman Maynard James Keenan delivered surreal visuals worthy of his main outfit.
02. Rammstein, “Mein Land”
When not setting themselves on fire onstage, Rammstein consistently deliver some of the best music videos around, whether baring their bratwurst or not, and they did not disappoint this year with this brilliantly ridiculous retro surfing clip. Who said Germans don’t have a sense of humor?
01. Skrillex, “First of the Year (Equinox)”
Sure, haters will argue that–new Korn album aside–dubstep ain’t “rock,” but there’s no denying that this song’s glitchy breakdowns are heavy as all hell. Or that this video itself is metal as fuck. No wonder Beavis and Butt Head gave it a view–to add to its 23 million on YouTube. In the words of Beavis, “Whoa, that’s cool.”

]]>The music video for the track “Lucifer” off Behemoth’s 2009 release, Evangelion, has hit the internet and can be viewed below. “Lucifer” is the final track on the album and one of the Polish blackened death-metal bands longest songs, clocking in at over eight-minutes long. The video was shot in Wroclaw, Poland, stars the song’s guest vocalist, Maciej Malenczuk, and features plenty of blood, boobs, and blasphemy.
Behemoth are also releasing a re-released and newly repackaged version of Demonica, which chronicles their earliest recordings. Demonica will include two booklets: a 28-page booklet and a 16-page booklet with rare photos and lyrics that were not included with the original release. Assembled by the band, and in particular, frontman and founding member Nergal, who had this to say about compiling lyrics:
“Finding and collecting all the lyrics was a difficult task, demanding patience and time. With an aim of preserving the so-called historical authenticity, I have resolved to forward the lyrics in their original form, even though some of the language mistakes in them may obscure the overall meaning of the work… The fact that none of them has ever been published before, speaks of their exceptional collectors or even historical value… All the lyrics, despite their imperfections and just terrible English, depict me from the time of their creation. I still believe that it was a very straightforward and honest material, which had its mighty influence on who I am today.”

Frontman for Polish extreme metallers Behemoth Adam “Nergal” Darski was found innocent yesterday by a Polish court. He had been charged with offending religious feeling during an incident at a Behemoth concert in 2007 where Nergal tore up the Bible and threw it into the audience, urging them to burn it.
Judge Krzysztof Wieckowski, though, came to the conclusion that the actions were an act of artistic expression consistent with the style of the band.
In addition to tearing up the Bible, Nergal also called the text a “deceitful book” and referred to the Catholic Church a “criminal sect.” Still, audience members who testified said that, despite being Christians, their religious feelings had not been hurt.
On Behemoth’s website, Nergal claimed he was happy with the outcome. ”I’m so glad to see that intelligence won over religious fanatics in my home country,” he said, “though there’s still so much work to be done to make things right.”

Considering Job for a Cowboy’s habit of pissing where they shouldn’t when they’re drunk, their last album, 2009’s Ruination (Metal Blade), could well be called Urination. Celebrating his band’s new Gloom EP, which hits stores tomorrow—a stop-gap until the Arizona death-metal outfit drops its highly anticipated new full-length later this year—bassist Brent Riggs states the case for a Depends endorsement.

“We were sharing a tour bus with Dååth and Despised Icon on tour in Europe. The show was over and everyone was hammered, as usual. Jonny drank a little too much, blacked out, and went to bed before everyone else. He woke up a couple hours later to use the bathroom. Of course, he was still hammered and had no idea where he was so he rolled over, fell out of his bunk, stood up, pulled down his pants, and just started pissing in the hallway of the bus. Unfortunately, Eric , the small, French-speaking little guitar player from Despised Icon, was in the hallway at the wrong time and caught most of Jonny’s urine all over his shirt and pants. Instead of getting mad and pushing him down or hitting him, he kindly grabbed him by the shoulders and directed Jonny’s stream of piss down the stairwell. What a peaceful little man.”

“We were sharing a tour bus with Behemoth, and again Jonny woke up in the middle of the night hammered and just started pissing. This guy Marcus, who was Behemoth’s guitar tech at the time, was asleep in his bunk with the curtain closed. Jonny’s stream of piss was hitting the curtain of his bunk. Confused by all the commotion, Marcus opened his curtain and totally got Jonny’s piss all over his face!”

“In Australia after our show, Bobby and I walked to a bar across from our hotel. We drank with the locals until the bar closed. We were completely hammered and about to walk back to the hotel. Bobby went to the bathroom to take a piss, and apparently he passed out while he was walking and went head first into a brick wall. The bar owner found me waiting outside and said, ‘Your pal took a spill. He doesn’t look so good.’ I walked back inside to find Bobby lying in a pool of his own piss and vomit. He was taken to the hospital and had to get a CAT Scan. We believe roofies were involved.”

Behemoth frontman and demigod Nergal performed onstage for the first time this past Friday since his bone marrow transplant last winter. Nergal made a guest appearance during a set in his home country, Poland, by English goth rockers Fields of the Nephilim. He provided vocals on the song “Penetration.”
“I don’t remember when the last time I was that nervous,” said Nergal. “I’m still not 100 percent in shape so I didn’t know how my body would react.” Nergal was diagnosed with leukemia this past August, but the vocalist/guitarist underwent a successful bone marrow transplant and is on the road to recovery. Behemoth plan to be back onstage this October.
“What a blast, I have to tell you. I had a serious adrenaline rush, and it was such a boost of energy I can’t even describe,” Nergal said about Friday’s performance. “I’m counting days until we come back with Behemoth full time. Five months to go.” Check out a video of the performance below.
