Long-running English doom rockers Cathedral have announced their final show will take place at The Forum in Kentish Town, London, on December 3, 2011. Support will come from Swedish heavy metal defenders Grand Magus, legendary cult English prog-rockers Comus and, also from England, classic rockers Gentleman’s Pistols.

“It’s just time to move on and leave our recorded legacy to linger,” says Cathedral singer Lee Dorian. “We would like to take this opportunity to express our sincere gratitude to those special people who have supported Cathedral over the years. It may sound like a cliché but it’s certainly true—we simply wouldn’t have been able to do it without you. Thanks!”

The band recently reunited with former bassist Scott Carlson (Repulsion, Death Breath) and will perform together for the first time in over a decade at Maryland Deathfest on Thursday, May 26th before hitting Brazil, Greece, the Czech Republic, Finland and Germany.

A final studio album, entitled The Last Spire, is currently in the works and is set to be released in 2012. On the possibility of future reunion shows, Dorian comments, “Well, we’ve been doing this for over 21 years now and I think it’s a bit of a cop-out when bands get back together. I never say never but I honestly can’t see it ever happening. The music means more to us than that and it’s not as though people haven’t had enough chances to see us over the years. I would say it’s very unlikely.”
