America’s premier destination rock festival will be held May 18–20 at Columbus Crew Stadium in Columbus, Ohio, featuring performances from Incubus, Rob Zombie, Shinedown, Marilyn Manson, Five Finger Death Punch, Slash, Megadeth, Chevelle, Cypress Hill, Mastodon, and many more.

“Incubus is stoked to be joinin’ the killer lineup at Rock On The Range this year. We’ll see y’all in Columbus,” comments Brandon Boyd from festival co-headliner Incubus.

“If you thought last time was a blast, then this time we are gonna blow your fucking mind,” says co-headliner Rob Zombie.

To get the party started and based on the success of last year’s anniversary celebration, the weekend will kick off with the Friday Night 4Play, which is absolutely free with every Rock on the Range weekend ticket purchase. The May 18 party will feature performances from Hairball, Foxy Shazam, Hells Bells, and more.

The current lineup for Rock on the Range 2012 is as follows: Incubus, Rob Zombie, Shinedown, Marilyn Manson, Five Finger Death Punch, Slash, Megadeth, Chevelle, Cypress Hill, Mastodon, Theory of a Deadman, Volbeat, Down, The Darkness, Halestorm, Escape The Fate, P.O.D., Lacuna Coil, Adelitas Way, Black Stone Cherry, Cavo, Attack Attack!, Trivium, Bobaflex, Falling In Reverse, Redlight King, Aranda, Emphatic, Otherwise, James Durbin, Black Tide, Kyng, 12 Stones, SOiL, Rival Sons, Eve To Adam, and Ghosts of August.

Monster Energy returns as one of the driving partners behind the success of Rock on the Range as more than 15 acts perform on the mammoth Monster Main Stage. Jägermeister also celebrates its fifth year as a key partner while welcoming 12 of the hottest up-and-coming bands to the in-your-face, up close and personal Jägermeister Music Stage. In all, Rock on the Range features three stages, 44 bands, and three days of non-stop rock.

“There are so many incredible bands playing at ROTR this year, and every one of them is significant,” says Del Williams, co-executive producer of the event for Right Arm Entertainment. “I think this is the most interesting mix of bands that we have had at the festival. The Rangers already know that the weekend is going to be insanely great, but there will be surprises this year and a certain edge to the lineup that will likely create some of the most memorable moments in the six-year history of Rock on the Range.”

Tickets for Rock on the Range go on sale Friday, February 10, at 10:00 A.M. EST at the festival’s website, Ticketmaster, and the Crew Stadium Box Office. Two-day weekend stadium GA tickets once again start at just $99.50 (plus service and transaction fees). A limited number of ROTR presale layaway tickets are also still available through February 29. Visit www.RockOnTheRange.com for full details and VIP package information.

Visit www.RockOnTheRange.com, www.facebook.com/rockontherange, and www.twitter.com/rockontherange for the most up-to-date information.

Presented by Right Arm Entertainment, AEG LIVE and Crew Stadium, Rock on the Range is a multi-stage music and lifestyle event featuring a potent line-up of bands on three stages. The nationally renowned festival centrally located in the heart of the country has annually drawn weekend crowds in excess of 70,000 since its inception in 2007.

It’s where the troupe, whose hometown of Grayslake is about 40 miles north of the Miracle Mile, cut their musical teeth and developed the heavy-hitting, drone ‘n’ roll that can be heard on Chevelle’s 1999 debut Point #1 and beyond. The group’s sixth studio album, Hats Off to the Bull, hit stores yesterday, so it seemed like an apt time to get singer-guitarist Pete to list his five favorite fellow Chicago rock bands (Styx and stones may break their bones…).

The Smashing Pumpkins
“When they did Siamese Dream, not only was it an amazing album, but it hit me at just the right time. I was 16 years old when I heard that album. It was heavy and yet it was emotional—and we’re all a little emotional. When I was 16, I was going through a lot of shit. My parents were about to possibly get divorced, I was dealing with a lot. Everyone deals with shit when they’re 16, but that was a great album to help get me through it. I actually have yet to meet Billy Corgan. I have all these friends who know him, and I’m a huge fan, so hopefully someday…”

Disturbed
“They have that first album [futureusgallery2000's The Sickness], which was huge for them. There’s only a few musicians that I talk to a lot, and David Draiman is one of them. We’ve always kept in touch, probably because we started around the same time in Chicago so we have that same sort of kinship. Neither of us ever fit into a clique of any kind, so we’ve always bonded over that. We used to play a lot of shows together in small venues, and we’ve kind of grown up with them.”

Ministry
“I love them. We used to cover their song ‘Thieves’–that was always fun to play. We have a lot of mutual friends, too. They’re a band that, at another point in my life where I was trying to find out what I was into, my older brother brought them to us to show me what he was into at the time. You just can’t deny it–when you hear a lot of those guitar riffs and the driving rhythms, it just pulls you in. Whenever we have parties at home, we’ll throw on some [futureusgalleryMinistry] or bands that just have that same kind of thing going. It’s a great party band. And it’s funny, too, when you hear the early Ministry that was full-on ’80s pop—but it’s great. I love it all.”

Local H
“They’re from up by us—they say Zion [futureusgalleryIllinois]—and we’ve played a lot of shows with them over the years. When we used to go to punk shows, we’d usually run into them, at legion halls in our area, or driving into Wisconsin at a shitty bar, or down in the city, in Chicago, too. They’ve always been a solid band and intense, and I see Scott from time to time. We have a lot of stories in the past, good times and rough ones. We kicked ‘em off the bus once—my girlfriend at the time, who’s now my wife, did. Scott was just shitfaced and it happens, so what are you gonna do? We’ve all been there.”

Filter
“We have a huge past with Richie . And he was cool enough to bring us out on our first album, when they were supporting their second album, and it was just us and them and it was a great, crazy show every night. We were out with them this year, and to connect with them 10 years later was really cool. Richie’s sober now and cool as shit. He’d be the first one to tell you that he’s a lot happier, and that’s great. More power to him. We haven’t hit that point yet. We’re dabbling, but things are good.”

You can get your first look at the cover of the record, which alludes to bullfighting, below. Singer Pete Loeffler had stumbled upon bullfighting pictures online and began reading about the sport, appalled at its brutality. “It’s such a heartless sport and it’s so torturous for these animals,” he said in a statement about the album cover. “We got the idea of rooting for the bull instead. We root for the underdog.”

As for their music on the album, Loeffler says: “I’m writing about a lot of issues and emotions. When I was a kid, I used to throw on Led Zeppelin records, turn off the lights, and watch the stereo lights blink in total darkness. I’d crank it up, feel the rawness, and think about what was going on in my life at the time. I hope people can get lost in our music like that.”
