Metal and Hard-Rock Releases Announced for Record Store Day

Record Store Day has become an audiophile’s Christmas. The now annual event has spread worldwide to become a day where bands and record labels put out special vinyl releases including colored vinyl, exclusives, and picture discs. This year’s Record Store Day will be held on April 20.

One notable release is Earache Records’ The World’s Shortest Album, which features 13 songs in 83 seconds. Of course, bands like Napalm Death, Brutal Truth, Anal Cunt and more are included.

With one excellent offering already under their belts in recent months, Coheed and Cambria won’t keep fans waiting too long for new music.

The band will release the second part of their double album, The Afterman, in February, and earlier today posted a brand-new song online. Watch the lyric video for “The Hard Sell” from The Afterman: Descension below.

For fans looking to get their fans on “The Hard Sell” early, the track will be available on Guitar Center’s “Fresh Cuts” CD series, with 50,000 copies available to the public at all Guitar Center locations.

The Afterman: Descension is out February 5.

“This album brings back so many great memories for me. Some of the best times in my life were touring with Chuck and the guys in Death, and I’m soooo proud of our performance on this album!”

“I’ve been friends with these guys for many years and even got to jam with them at a soundcheck in Canada in 2004. Great guys and an equally great album.”

3. Testament, Dark Roots of Earth
“I had the pleasure of jamming with Alex Skolnick at the Death to All show in NYC this year and it was truly an honor. I’ve been a fan of Testament since the mid ’80s and their new album is amazing!”

2. Cannibal Corpse, Torture
“I’ve been a Cannibal Corpse fan since I lived in Kansas in the early 90s, and they’re like the AC/DC of heavy metal–they stay true to their sound and their albums always rule.”

Prog rockers Coheed and Cambria have just premiered the official video for “The Afterman,” off their new album The Afterman: Ascension. Watch it below.

Coheed and Cambria will be hitting the road for an extensive North American tour next year with Between the Buried and Me and Russian Circles. Dates for the trek can be found below the video.

The Afterman: Descension is due out in February of 2013.

Just announced is a slate of 2013 tour dates featuring Coheed and Cambria and Between the Buried and Me. Opening all dates of the tour is Chicago-based post-rock act, Russian Circles. Watch a trailer for the tour and get all the dates below.

Coheed and Cambria released The Afterman: Ascension, the first half of a planned double album, last month. The band will release the second part, The Afterman: Descension, on February 5, the day after the tour kicks off.

Between the Buried and Me released their sixth studio album, The Parallax II: Future Sequence, last month as well.
