As well as being one of the world’s leading guitarists, and one of the 100 Greatest Living Rock Stars featured in our new, 100th issue, Jane’s Addiction’s Dave Navarro is also known as a lover of beautiful women. So, when we talked to the axman recently about his band’s new album, The Great Escape Artist, we asked him to talk about who he currently thinks are the sexiest ladies around. Such a task proved quite a challenge for Navarro, however. “Frankly, I find something sexy about all women,” he laughs. “You’re asking the wrong guy to narrow it down.” After much deliberation, here is who he came up with.
Andy San Dimas
“Andy San Dimas is probably my favorite adult actress. And the interesting thing is, I don’t watch adult films, you know, I never do. But she, in the adult world, is probably the sexiest one around, in my opinion.”
Alexandra Breckenridge
“She plays Moira on [futureusgalleryTV series] American Horror Story. But I don’t know whether it’s her or the character, you know? ‘Cause the character’s, like, an evil, dead, hot housekeeper. That’s sexy to me. I generally gravitate toward the broken ones, you know? If in real life, she sits in the tanning bed and goes and gets manicures and pedicures and goes off to a yoga class, I don’t want to know about it, you know what I’m saying? Live a light, healthy free life, that’s not interesting. The dead, evil housekeeper is interesting.”
Cate Blanchett
“I think she is pretty spectacular, in terms of just sex appeal, you know? A lot of the sex appeal women have comes from within, so it’s difficult, you know? So based on looks, it’s very, very hard to say. It’s an attitude. Yeah. And I don’t really keep up on actors and actresses in the tabloids and all that stuff, you know? Most of the women who I think are the sexiest are tiny little icons in my Twitter feed, you know what I mean? ”
Hair-Salon Girl
“I’m the kind of guy who falls in love every four blocks. Right now, there’s a girl who works in the hair salon on the corner that I’ve written this entire romantic fantasy about in my head, and I’ve never said a word to her. If there’s one thing more exciting than seeing your favorite bands live, it’s seeing your favorite bands playing live together at the same time. Although the hard-rock and metal history books include more than a few eye-popping collaborations over the genres’ four-decade histories, 2011 boasts some of the most exciting. Below is a list of what got the Revolver editors’ jaws dropping this year. Let us know what jams you think were the best in the comments section.
The Big Four
Although Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, and Anthrax jammed together for the first time last year, it was in 2011 they made it their calling card. Beginning with their performance of Diamond Head’s “Am I Evil?” in April to their jams in Europe (which also featured members of Diamond Head, Exodus, and Sepultura), to their U.S. final performance of Motörhead’s “Overkill” in New York City, these bands have made history at each performance.
The Metal Masters
The night before the Big Four concert in New York City, members of Megadeth and Anthrax along with drummer Mike Portnoy gathered to give instrument tips to fans and musicians a like. What the audience didn’t expect was the closing jam, which featured Anthrax’s Scott Ian, Frank Bello, and Charlie Benante, Megadeth’s David Ellefson, Mike Portnoy, and special guests Kerry King of Slayer and…Phil Anselmo of Pantera and Down fame, who sang “Fucking Hostile” and “A New Level.”
Temple of the Dog
For Pearl Jam’s 20th Anniversary concert, Chris Cornell joined the band for a four-song set of the songs he recorded with the nascent band under the name Temple of the Dog in 2011.
The Revolver Golden Gods Awards
We may be tooting our own horns here, but even we were floored by the collaborations of Avenged Sevenfold with Vinnie Paul on Pantera’s “Mouth for War” and Duff McKagan on GN’R’s “It’s So Easy,” as well as Duff, Corey Taylor, and Steve Jones’ take on Judas Priest’s “Electric Eye,” Volbeat’s take on Dusty Springfield’s “I Only Wanna Be With You,” and Asking Alexandria and Sebastian Bach’s electrifying take on “Youth Gone Wild.”
Guns N’ Roses and Zakk Wylde’s “Whole Lotta Rosie”
At a recent Indiana gig, Guns N’ Roses invited Black Label Society frontman Zakk Wylde to join them on guitar for an electrifying rendition of AC/DC’s “Whole Lotta Love.”
Mötley Crüe with Cee-Lo
Cee-Lo Green the Soul Machine, who had a massive hit last year with “Fuck You,” joined the Sunset Strip’s Kings of “Fuck You”—Mötley Crüe—at an L.A. gig in June for a rendition of his hit and the Crüe’s “Don’t Go Away Mad (Just Go Away).”
Drop in the Bucket Charity Event
At the Drop in the Bucket Charity Event, Slipknot and Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor played a set highlighted by all of his famous friends. Together they played some of hard rock and metal’s greatest hits. Two highlights were Ozzy Osbourne’s “Crazy Train”—performed by Taylor, Jane’s Addiction’s Dave Navarro, Rob Zombie guitarist John 5, and Slayer drummer Dave Lombardo—and AC/DC’s “Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap”—played by Taylor, Anthrax’s Scott Ian, John 5, and Rob Zombie bassist Piggy D and drummer Ginger Fish. Metallica 30th Anniversary
Nobody has ever thrown an anniversary party quite like Metallica’s 30th Anniversary shows, which wrapped up on December 10 in San Francisco. Over the course of four nights, they played with artists who influenced them, their peers, and past members of the band. These include everyone from Diamond Head to Mercyful Fate, Marianne Faithfull to Rob Halford, Alice in Chains’ Jerry Cantrell to Kid Rock, and, most impressive, original guitarists Dave Mustaine and Lloyd Grant alongside original bassist Ron McGovney for the first song the band ever recorded, “Hit the Lights.”
Corey Taylor appeared at the Drop in the Bucket benefit concert last week, performing some great hard-rock and metal covers (viewable here) alongside a bevy of heavy-music greats like Jane’s Addiction’s Dave Navarro, Anthrax’s Scott Ian, Slayer’s Dave Lombardo, John 5 of Rob Zombie’s band, and more. While there, Taylor was gracious enough to host the RevolverTV segment below, interviewing many of the night’s performers and others who were there, including The Office‘s Kate Flannery and the night’s host, Henry Rollins. The event, which will be hosted by Henry Rollins, has announced that Corey Taylor has added Jane’s Addiction drummer Steve Perkins to his set, which already features Anthrax’s Scott Ian, Jane’s Addiction’s Dave Navarro, and Rob Zombie’s John 5. Also recently announced is Boots Electric, which features the Eagles of Death Metal’s Jesse Hughes.

A legendary list of hard rock and metal names will be coming together for a charity benefit in Hollywood on November 30 to support the Drop in the Bucket charity. Taking place at the historic Avalon Theater, the event–which is being sponsored by Revolver–aims to raise money to build water wells in the troubled South Sudan.
Hosted by Henry Rollins, the event will also feature performances by Slipknot/Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor, Jane’s Addiction’s Dave Navarro, Anthrax’s Scott Ian, Slayer’s Dave Lombardo, and guitarist John 5 along with other members of Rob Zombie’s band. In addition, artist Shepard Fairey, who designed the poster for the event, will be a guest DJ and actress Kate Flannery, from The Office will be performing a musical comedy routine with her ironic lounge act, The Lampshades.
Drop in the Bucket is a Los Angeles– and Gulu, Uganda–based non-profit that builds water wells and sanitation systems at large rural schools in sub-Saharan Africa. For more information, click here.

Jane’s Addiction guitarist Dave Navarro was recently interviewed by Guitar World, as part of a feature on the band in their December issue, and you can now read excerpts from the chat over at GuitarWorld.com. Navarro discusses the making of the band’s new record, The Great Escape Artist, which will be released on October 18, as well as the current state of the group, having come together to record their first album since 2003′s Strays.
Navarro says that the members of Jane’s Addiction’s outside interests have helped the harmony within the band.
“As far as the internal structure of the band goes, we’ve never been on more solid ground. I think that’s because of the fact that we all have our own interests and lives outside of Jane’s. That actually allows the band to breathe and have more life, because we’re not all sucking from it because it’s the only thing that matters.”
