Illustrator Justin Barlett has created art for bands including Job for a Cowboy, Isis, Trap Them, and Kvelertak. Not surprisingly, his take on the spider-legged abomination from John Carpenter’s The Thing is totally brutal, plus it glows in the dark. Click here to buy now on Holy Mountain Printing.

7. Zombie Feet Sandals

9. Gravediggers: Mountain of Bones

R.L. Stine calls this new Young Adult zombie novel “fast, frightening, and all too real!” Of course it is—the first in a projected series, it’s penned by Revolver contributor Christopher Krovatin, aka Stolas Trephinator of the band Flaming Tusk. Click here to buy now on Amazon.

10. Monster Matryoshkas

These are not your Russian grandmother’s matroyshkas. But these nesting dolls of a ghost, mummy, vampire, zombie, and the Grim Reaper will still look great on the mantel. Click here to buy now on Amazon.

11. Zombies!: An Illustrated History of the Undead

Revolver’s “Splatter Matters” columnist, Jovanka Vuckovic, traces the line from Haitian voodoo lore and the writing of Mary Shelley and Edgar Allan Poe all the way to Zombieland and The Walking Dead. Click here to buy now on Amazon.

12. Orange Signature #4 Jim Root Terror Head and PPC212JR Speaker Cab

This all-tube, 15-watt amp not only comes in Halloween colors but is also modeled after the Dirty Channel on the same amp that Jim Root—of masked maniacs Slipknot, as well as Stone Sour—plays in the studio and on the road. Click here to buy now on Amazon.

13. Corpse Corps Skate Reaper Coffin Deck

Instead of walking door-to-door trick or treatin’, try shredding down the block on this casket-shaped skateboard emblazoned with Death himself. Click here to buy now at CorpseCorpsBoards.com.

So, when we talked to the axman recently about his band’s new album, The Great Escape Artist, we asked him to talk about who he currently thinks are the sexiest ladies around. Such a task proved quite a challenge for Navarro, however. “Frankly, I find something sexy about all women,” he laughs. “You’re asking the wrong guy to narrow it down.” After much deliberation, here is who he came up with.

Andy San Dimas
“Andy San Dimas is probably my favorite adult actress. And the interesting thing is, I don’t watch adult films, you know, I never do. But she, in the adult world, is probably the sexiest one around, in my opinion.”

Alexandra Breckenridge
“She plays Moira on [futureusgalleryTV series] American Horror Story. But I don’t know whether it’s her or the character, you know? ‘Cause the character’s, like, an evil, dead, hot housekeeper. That’s sexy to me. I generally gravitate toward the broken ones, you know? If in real life, she sits in the tanning bed and goes and gets manicures and pedicures and goes off to a yoga class, I don’t want to know about it, you know what I’m saying? Live a light, healthy free life, that’s not interesting. The dead, evil housekeeper is interesting.”

Cate Blanchett
“I think she is pretty spectacular, in terms of just sex appeal, you know? A lot of the sex appeal women have comes from within, so it’s difficult, you know? So based on looks, it’s very, very hard to say. It’s an attitude. Yeah. And I don’t really keep up on actors and actresses in the tabloids and all that stuff, you know? Most of the women who I think are the sexiest are tiny little icons in my Twitter feed, you know what I mean? ”

Hair-Salon Girl
“I’m the kind of guy who falls in love every four blocks. Right now, there’s a girl who works in the hair salon on the corner that I’ve written this entire romantic fantasy about in my head, and I’ve never said a word to her. Because every time I walk by her to got to Starbucks, she’s, like, ‘the one,’ you know what I’m saying?”

The “100 Greatest Living Rock Stars” list takes a no-holds-barred look at the rock arena and highlights those artists who embody rock and roll’s rebel attitude. Whether it’s the well-chronicled debauched exploits of Mötley Crüe or newcomer James Durbin bringing metal to pop’s biggest forum, American Idol, these artists have what it takes to stand out from the pack. Included in the feature are rock star tips and tales from Gene Simmons, Chris Cornell, Bret Michaels and Dave Navarro, among others.

“Some would say the era of the rock star is dead,” says Revolver Editor in Chief Brandon Geist. “And those are probably the same disbelievers who have told us many times that rock is dead, that metal is dead, that print is dead. And yet, here Revolver is at 100 issues—100 real, tangible, bathroom-ready printed issues—celebrating 100 rock stars who are very much alive and kicking ass. Needlessly to say, reports of all these deaths are greatly exaggerated.”

The cover of Revolver’s “Mega 100th Issue” features 22 notable rockers partying hard in celebration of the milestone in a special illustration created by famed horror-artist Jason Edmiston. These rock stars include: Guns N’ Roses’ Axl Rose, Ozzy Osbourne, Metallica’s James Hetfield, Kiss’ Gene Simmons, Korn’s Jonathan Davis, Marilyn Manson, Slash, Mötley Crüe and Sixx:A.M.’s Nikki Sixx, Slipknot and Stone Sour’s Corey Taylor, Motörhead’s Lemmy Kilmister, Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl, Alice Cooper, Rob Zombie, Slayer’s Kerry King, Black Label Society’s Zakk Wylde, Down and Pantera’s Phil Anselmo, Lamb of God’s Randy Blythe, Avenged Sevenfold’s M. Shadows, Jane’s Addiction’s Dave Navarro, Sebastian Bach, Black Veil Brides’ Andy Biersack, and Falling in Reverse’s Ronnie Radke.

The cover of Revolver was recently named by Billboard to be the #1 place to get maximum exposure as a hard-rock artist; Revolver expands its reign as the leading hard-rock and heavy-metal destination with its 100th issue, which is its first issue ever to be sold at Walmart. Kicking off the relationship, 775 of the retailer’s top locations will feature custom Revolver displays in their music sections to make the issue easily accessible for music fans around the country. The celebratory issue is also the first to feature a redesign to both the up-front and back-of-book sections.

Also included in the “Mega 100th Issue” is Revolver’s highly anticipated list of the Top 20 albums of 2011. Album of the Year honors go to Korn for their album The Path of Totality, which sees the pioneering metal band collaborating with such dubstep producers as Skrillex, Excision, Kill the Noise and Nosia. Other albums making the cut include Machine Head’s Unto the Locust, Megadeth’s TH1RT3EN, the Foo Fighters’ Wasting Light and Evanescence’s self-titled release.

In addition, the issue features a commemorative fold-out poster of late, great Pantera guitarist Dimebag Darrell; a download code for 15 free songs including tracks by Black Label Society, Hatebreed, High on Fire; articles on Black Sabbath, Shinedown, Gwar, Skeletonwitch, Clutch, and many others; as well as the “Top 10 Presents to Kick 2012 Up to 11,” Revolver’s holiday gift guide with the perfect items for the rockers on your list.

Although the hard-rock and metal history books include more than a few eye-popping collaborations over the genres’ four-decade histories, 2011 boasts some of the most exciting. Below is a list of what got the Revolver editors’ jaws dropping this year. Let us know what jams you think were the best in the comments section.

The Big Four
Although Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, and Anthrax jammed together for the first time last year, it was in 2011 they made it their calling card. Beginning with their performance of Diamond Head’s “Am I Evil?” in April to their jams in Europe (which also featured members of Diamond Head, Exodus, and Sepultura), to their U.S. final performance of Motörhead’s “Overkill” in New York City, these bands have made history at each performance.

The Metal Masters
The night before the Big Four concert in New York City, members of Megadeth and Anthrax along with drummer Mike Portnoy gathered to give instrument tips to fans and musicians a like. What the audience didn’t expect was the closing jam, which featured Anthrax’s Scott Ian, Frank Bello, and Charlie Benante, Megadeth’s David Ellefson, Mike Portnoy, and special guests Kerry King of Slayer and…Phil Anselmo of Pantera and Down fame, who sang “Fucking Hostile” and “A New Level.”

Temple of the Dog
For Pearl Jam’s 20th Anniversary concert, Chris Cornell joined the band for a four-song set of the songs he recorded with the nascent band under the name Temple of the Dog in 2011.

The Revolver Golden Gods Awards
We may be tooting our own horns here, but even we were floored by the collaborations of Avenged Sevenfold with Vinnie Paul on Pantera’s “Mouth for War” and Duff McKagan on GN’R’s “It’s So Easy,” as well as Duff, Corey Taylor, and Steve Jones’ take on Judas Priest’s “Electric Eye,” Volbeat’s take on Dusty Springfield’s “I Only Wanna Be With You,” and Asking Alexandria and Sebastian Bach’s electrifying take on “Youth Gone Wild.”

Drop in the Bucket Charity Event
At the Drop in the Bucket Charity Event, Slipknot and Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor played a set highlighted by all of his famous friends. Together they played some of hard rock and metal’s greatest hits. Two highlights were Ozzy Osbourne’s “Crazy Train”—performed by Taylor, Jane’s Addiction’s Dave Navarro, Rob Zombie guitarist John 5, and Slayer drummer Dave Lombardo—and AC/DC’s “Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap”—played by Taylor, Anthrax’s Scott Ian, John 5, and Rob Zombie bassist Piggy D and drummer Ginger Fish.
Metallica 30th Anniversary
Nobody has ever thrown an anniversary party quite like Metallica’s 30th Anniversary shows, which wrapped up on December 10 in San Francisco. Over the course of four nights, they played with artists who influenced them, their peers, and past members of the band. These include everyone from Diamond Head to Mercyful Fate, Marianne Faithfull to Rob Halford, Alice in Chains’ Jerry Cantrell to Kid Rock, and, most impressive, original guitarists Dave Mustaine and Lloyd Grant alongside original bassist Ron McGovney for the first song the band ever recorded, “Hit the Lights.”

Taking place at the historic Avalon Theater, the event–which is being sponsored by Revolver–aims to raise money to build water wells in the troubled South Sudan.

Hosted by Henry Rollins, the event will also feature performances by Slipknot/Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor, Jane’s Addiction’s Dave Navarro, Anthrax’s Scott Ian, Slayer’s Dave Lombardo, and guitarist John 5 along with other members of Rob Zombie’s band. In addition, artist Shepard Fairey, who designed the poster for the event, will be a guest DJ and actress Kate Flannery, from The Office will be performing a musical comedy routine with her ironic lounge act, The Lampshades.

Drop in the Bucket is a Los Angeles– and Gulu, Uganda–based non-profit that builds water wells and sanitation systems at large rural schools in sub-Saharan Africa. For more information, click here.

Tickets are available to purchase for $25, through Ticketmaster, and at the door at an increased price with availability pending.

Jane’s Addiction guitarist Dave Navarro was recently interviewed by Guitar World, as part of a feature on the band in their December issue, and you can now read excerpts from the chat over at GuitarWorld.com. Navarro discusses the making of the band’s new record, The Great Escape Artist, which will be released on October 18, as well as the current state of the group, having come together to record their first album since 2003′s Strays.

Navarro says that the members of Jane’s Addiction’s outside interests have helped the harmony within the band.

“As far as the internal structure of the band goes, we’ve never been on more solid ground. I think that’s because of the fact that we all have our own interests and lives outside of Jane’s. That actually allows the band to breathe and have more life, because we’re not all sucking from it because it’s the only thing that matters.”
