Here, Davey Suicide (pictured left), vocalist of the goth-metal band Davey Suicide, selects his faves.

3. In This Moment, Blood
“Vocalist Maria Brink has great conviction, and this almost serves as a female-fronted Deftones.”

2. Deftones, Koi No Yokan
“After 24 years, these dudes are still cranking out strong material. ‘Leathers’ and ‘Poltergeist’ are among my favorites.”

1. Deuce, Nine Lives
“I love the party-hard and ‘I don’t give a fuck’ attitude that this album embodies. Not straying too far from his roots in Hollywood Undead, Deuce delivers shining moments throughout this album with cameos from Ronnie Radke, Travie McCoy, and Jeffree Star.”

Hell, we love Halloween so much we have a special issue called Rock! Shock! and Horror on newsstands now and available for purchase online right here. Because good scares often intersect with great metal, we asked Davey Suicide, frontman of the band of the same name, about his favorite horror movies.

SAW
“I love Jigsaw’s concept of teaching his victims to appreciate life through his torture and traps. The twists at the end of the films were great.”

Silence of the Lambs
“Psychological thrillers are my favorite and the onscreen chemistry between Clarice and Hannibal Lecter is brilliant.”

The Devil’s Rejects
“The way Rob Zombie mixed the ’70s music underneath the violent scenes was a great contrast. Otis and the Clown’s character and dialogue were great. Lastly, the way Zombie creates compassion for the killers at the end of movie when they are driving through the police roadblock was a perfect ending and I will forever remember ‘Free Bird’ to that visual.”

Goth-metal outfit Davey Suicide, who will release their debut album later this year, have debuted the video for their song, “Generation Fuck Star.” The clip was directed by photographer and filmmaker Chad Michael Ward, who has previously work with Marilyn Manson, Fear Factory, and Combichrist. Frontman and band namesake for Davey Suicide states “I feel like, visually, this video is what the soundtrack of this generation should feel like.” He adds, “I’m breaking free from all of the baggage that has plagued me for years and have become comfortable in my own skin.”

In discussing the release of the video, Suicide said, “‘Generation Fuck Star’ is about breaking the mold, doing what you want, how you want, and not because you are told to be a certain way. Fans can see through the cookie cutter bands, and that’s why their love for those bands is fleeting. Give them music that means something, and they’ll stand by your side, forever.”
